Captain John Ward and Affinity Charters is the way to go for your inshore and reef fishing trips. I have been on at least 5 trips and won't go through any other guide. Whenever I have friends or family visit here in Charleston, he is always willing to set up the best time for our charter. Whether you want to fish shark in the warmer months or Redfish year round, he knows exactly where to put you so everyone is having fun and catching fish. On top of his first class fishing experience, he is very knowledgable about the area and makes everyone feel comfortable while out on the water! more

Great Time On The Kiawah River 2/12/2012

I have been visiting Kiawah Island for many years and being a fisherman I was always out trying my luck on the ponds. However, I mostly visited in January and the fishing was very slow. I finally did some inquiring through the nature center and found captain John Ward from Affinity Charters. We went out for a half day on the Kiawah River and hit the red fish hard...not just a few but over 20 as I remember. Captain John was patient, persistent and highly skilled. Thank you for a GREAT time Affinity and captain John. Good Fishing and I will be back!! more

Great Charleston Fishing 2/1/2012

We fish with Capt. John anytime that we are in Charleston. Over the last 4 years we have fished with him about 15 times. Always puts us on the redfish, and is great with my kids. This guy really enjoys his work and it shows. Very helpful and fun to spend a day on the water with. Paul more

Fun for the whole family! 12/23/2011

We have been fishing with Captain John and his captains for years, and it has been wonderful each time we went out on the water! The kids were taken care of and we all caught fish, lots of fish of different species. Shark fishing in the summer is a blast, it is tough to keep the lines if the water. Whether we have fished with Captain John Ward, Captain Hoppy or Captain John Fuss, it has been a completely professional and engaging experience. As customers of Affinity Charters, we have come back year after year and always left having a great time and having caught fish, lots of fish! I highly recommend Affinity Charters for a fun, family friendly experience, you will not be dissappointed! more

Terrible Fishing Charte 7/13/2011

I had a friend visit from out of town. We decided to book an inshore fishing charter through Captain Ward of Affinity Charters. I was very clear to him that we wanted to catch Red Fish, as my friend had never caught one before. Captain Ward said he would make it happen, and set us on our way. Well come to find out this would be the worst charter experience my friend and I had ever encountered. Our guide took the lead on the 17' flats boat. Meaning he was casting from the bow, so he was the first to cast along the banks as we drifted by, leaving us to cast in his already fished water. Not to mention that because he was on the bow, my buddy on the aft end, I was in the center forced to cast overhand vice a more accurate side cast. Our fishing guide appeared to be more into the fishing trip for himself rather than ensuring the fishing trip be about us. This was a $600 charter; it should be only about us! My buddy and I felt as if we were just tagging along on his trip. Our guide caught most fish and my buddy and I each caught a couple trout and flounder, even though I specifically asked to catch Red Fish. After the day ended, I called Captain Ward to tell him about our disappointing experience. Capt Ward apologized and offered me a $75 discount on my next fishing charter with him. Well John Ward, you can keep that offer as I will never book a charter through you again. more
