Always Great 5/6/2011

Adelmo's has long been one of the best kept secrets in Dallas. The food meets every standard, the service is quietly effecient, the setting is exactly what you would expect in any European establishment, and the overall warmth is exceptional. Visiting Adelmo's last Saturday evening proved that the standard set by Adelmo so many years ago endures. The patrons of this restaurant are of every age group, ethnicity, and obviously very discerning diners. It's always a treat when you see a local television personality in this type of restaurant. Adelmo's is not about glitz and electricity. Adelmo's is about fond memories of a quiet evening, exceptional cuisine, and quiet unobtrusive service. You don't find Europe in Dallas very often. more

Definitely never again! 1/13/2011

When we arrived at Adelmo's we were seated next to a large group, despite there being plenty of other seating available. And it's a small restaurant. They were so incredibly noisy I couldn't hear what my companion was saying for the entire evening. \r \r The reason this is a problem is that it was very clear that the noisy table were regulars, and that it was apparently to be expected that we would be annoyed as we were quickly offered free dessert. \r \r Unfortunately free dessert on a $130 check for a ruined dinner didn't really help much. The dessert was excellent, but the entree marginal at best. I had much way better food at Momo's two nights later for half the price.\r \r Don't waste your time or money. more

What a gem! 9/2/2010

We stumbled upon Adelmo's last week. I can't believe that I had not been here before. The food is just wonderful. We started with a shrimp and pea risotto that was just sublime. We were going to share a zuppa di pesce, but I ended up keeping it to myself, and my husband ordered the buffalo tenderloin. Very gracious service, and the setting could not have been more relaxing. Topped it all off with a limoncello. Just a great evening! more

NEVER AGAIN 6/25/2009

I'm Italian and lived in Italy for almost 30 years. Well Adelmo's has been one of the wrst experience of my life. I had a Lasagna and other than the name nothing was like a lasagna. Plus the place is quite expensive. For the same type of food, go to Olive's Garden at least is cheaper. Adelmo, the owner, is Italian so what is he doing at the bar, his place should be in the kitchen!!!!! It is not an Italian restaurant if is owned by an Italian, it's Italian when the person that cook is Italian!!!!! I will never go there again!!!!! more

Extremely rude staff 12/18/2008

My husband and I were excited to try Adelmo's after reading great reviews on the food and atmosphere. We never got to try the food for ourselves, as we were treated so poorly by the waiter who was seating us that we turned around and left. We went on a Wednesday evening, and the restaurant was not full - he directed us to a table next to the front door, and we asked if we could sit somewhere else, as it was right by the door and the evening was chilly. He informed us that even though he had two 4-person tables open downstairs, and two 3-person tables upstairs, he would not seat us at any of those because he was expecting people to show up. He very rudely told us that if we didn't want that one table by the door, he would not seat us anywhere else and we could go somewhere else if we wanted.\r \r On a Wednesday night, during a downturn in the economy when many people are cutting ""dining out"" out of their budget, you're going to turn away 2 customers when you have 4 open tables, and you're going to be rude about it? We happily gave our business to someone else that evening. Pros: I wish we could have tried the food, as I hear it's delicious Cons: Apparently they don't need customers more

Unpleasant Anniversary 10/2/2008

On our anniversary, my husband and I were anticipating a cozy, quiet romantic dinner on our first trip to Adelmo's. We were seated between two large tables, each celebrating a birthday, and the noise was so loud in the small room that we literally could not hear each other without shouting across the small table. A large party should have been served upstairs. The service was excellent, but the calamari and the grouper were both overcooked. We rushed through dinner and declined the dessert menu because at that point we both had a headache from the noise. We paid $120 (including tip) for a rather unpleasant evening and we will not be returning. Pros: Good service, average food Cons: Noisy, crowded, loud more

Review from Mrs. Astrid Merriman 1/15/2008

Adelmo's is one of the most versatile restaurants in the Knox-Henderson food district. Having been a customer for years we call Adelmo's Mother's Kitchen. We can spontaneously decide to go and not dress for dinner and still have a fabulous meal and magnificent bottle of wine. When we want to do a corporate dinner Adelmo will create a wine tasting and menu to match. He can do anyithing. With advance notice he can make some of the best dishes for special occasions. I know; my husband had his big birthday dinner there. Finish with cappacino and lovely Biscotti, or fabulos creme brulee. You will be tempted to return often. Thanks, Mrs. Astrid Merriman\r \r Pros: I love this place! more

VERY romantic! 1/14/2008

This is the perfect place to propose. I went there last night and it is cozy, the food amazing and the service excellent! It's like dining in a little coittage in iIaly. They are on the top of my list for valentine date place as well. Go see why! Limited seating so make a reservation early for special occasions. Beautiful, fairly priced and very romantic. Bravo! Pros: Everything! Cons: They fill up fast so go early or call for reservations more

Charming place 1/14/2008

Tucked in on Cole avenue you will find one of the oldest Italian restaurants around. One of the owners humbly mentioned one day to me that they have ?honest food?. It is a very modest statement. This place is absolutely charming and the food superb! This is a perfect place to shut down for a private party as well. So if you have a party where you are looking for a quaint place of your own, this is it. If you are just a party of 2 looking for a place of your own, this is it too! They have many awards that are well deserved. Call today for a reservation or stop in and see for yourself.. Pros: Fantastic service and 'honest food' more

Best wine list, best variety of appetizers and main menu at a fair price, always need reservations. 10/13/2007

Professionally accomodating, to making what's not on the menu, but creating the dish you want, to ordering a bottle not in stock, blends with a touch and taste of NY in Dallas, and Adelmo always remembers who you are. Pros: None better more

Great all around! 9/26/2007

We have been going to Adelmo's for years. It's interesting to see restaurants in Dallas come and go, and yet, Adelmo's continues on doing what it does best. Good food, excellent moderately priced wines and a relaxed atmosphere. The duck ravioli, veal osso bucco and buffalo specials can't be beat. Pros: consistently good more

Old Italian Flair 11/9/2006

I've had dinner here many times. Love it. It's in the Knox/Henderson area (west side of 75). It's a little two story place that looks like a tiny house. Food is excellent! Looking for private, non-chain, old-fashioned Italian ""grotto"" feel--this is the place. Staff have always been helpful and fun, if you want. When going upstairs (they open if busy) or to restrooms, you'll notice every available space is filled with foodstuffs, linen, wine, etc. Not pretty, but charming. Opens at 6pm for dinner. I come here for the food. Order the chef's specials. And, yes, Adelmo runs-the-place. Pros: Great food, good Knox/Henderson location Cons: nut's-n-bolts atmophere, hours more
