When I was moving out to California I figured I could always fall back on an Employment Agency for help in finding a job. This place was just a hop, skip, and a jump from my apartment so I figured, what the heck. I went in and all seemed fine. I got excellent scores on my test but then I waited an hour to see the Staffing Agent. Well, he hated my resume. Everyone else has always complimented my layout, but no everything about it was wrong. Fine. After talking to him for about 20 minutes, all the while feeling like he had little faith that I had any skills whatsoever, he sent me home to take some more tests and email him my new resume fixed to his standards. My expereince is with Act 1 Personnel Service in Raleigh, NC, you have to fill out a whole lot of paper work, you have to do testing as though you are back in school and through out this long process they never call you back. So I called the office on numerous occassions and they never returned my calls. One agent I kept asking for specifically, she is either never there, busy, or she never returned your voice message. I even emailed them and they never responded. This time I called and I got one agent to assist me and she was very rude she said the unemployment is very high now and she was very negative towards me, she mentioned that the reason why they are not calling me because I don't have the specific skills what some employers are looking for on the contrary I am well versed, I have several degrees and I can speak more than one language. The staff at Act 1 in Raleigh act as though they will help you but in acutality they really don't and I think the president needs to assess the overall staff that she has employed because they are rude and very negative. That was my experience not everyone's experience is the same. more

Not only was the representative I dealt with extremely brusque and rude, but halfway through testing I had wait for her to get off of personal phone call in order to complete all my tasks. She was completely patronizing to me when she looked over my resume, despite the fact I have a master's degree. And, as is common for these kinds of places, tried to make a case for why I shouldn't be making more then $10/hr. Basically, if you're looking for work, and feel like being humiliated by the staff, by all means check this place out.
