Academy of Gymnastics & Dance

My daughter went to this Dance Academy many years ago and danced under Darlene.She also took cheer and gymnastics and became a cheerleader for her local high school..So I decided to enroll my grandson since he is into sports ....I am so impressed with the male and female staff there. There is always teachers and the student are 1 - 6 ratio...Parents are welcome to watch from the large viewing windows or the televison screen in the lobby..... My grandson who is 10 has increased his abilities and motor skills in his sports and his coaches are very impressed with his improvements ....... I just love love love the new gymnastics instructor from Nashville , Coach Ron , he is a great asset to an already top notch staff.... They also have a great competion cheer team ...Watched them , was very impressed.... The dancing diva's are very talented and I also was told they have a ballet company that preforms for the schools in the area at Christmas - The Nutcracker.... Such a great staff of people to make you feel so welcome and to love your child.... more

We have been part of the Diva Spirit Cheer Team for 2 years (soon to be 3). The owner is wonderful with the girls. Cheer classes are great. We also had a great time with combo dance classes as well. I truly think gymnastics is lacking a bit and could be better. Tuition is reasonable and instructors are great. After having looked at many different options, I KNOW we made the right decision by going here. more

We took our 2yr old dd to a class here and were not impressed. It was ok, but what really upset me was that they had a "helper" in the room that was probably 11yrs old and she was rough with the kids. After watching on the survelliance screens, your kids are in the room without you, which we were happy about at first, but I would've liked to be able to correct the helper, and seeing that the helper was dragging the kids back up the wedge after they'd flip by the arms and when she'd flip them, she didn't help support their neck at all, I was SO uncomfortable that we decided not to take my dd back. Some of the little kids she was helping had their necks bending in ways that didn't look right and I know that pulling them by their arms isn't good for them either. I wasn't impressed and decided to take her back to the City Parks & Rec which was much cheaper and much more safe. more

I have seen several performances given by students in the Academy's dancing classes. They definitely learn quite a few moves. The classes tend to be somewhat expensive but the kids seem to really enjoy them. They are taught by teachers with many years of experience--both an dancers and as teachers. My son was enrolled in the 3 year-old tumbling classes and we were not as impressed. They had a huge class of nearly 15 three year olds and 3 teachers. Because there were so many students the kids had to do a lot of waiting for their turn and were often bored. I'd definitely take my daughter there for dance classes in the future but we will skip the tumbling classes. more
