The Owners of abruscis are liars and thieves. They shut the doors in cherry creek on their employees without notice. Completely screwed over all of them. Now the employees are trying to get there final paychecks and jeff and nancy progar are refusing to pay any of them. please don t support this business they steal from their hard working employees. more

poor service and non-inspired menu more

Our meal were a mess, my daughter is 6/6/2012

Our meal were a mess, my daughter is alergic to Dairy and it came out with cheese all over it, had to hunt the waiter down. Hated the baked Rigatoni with meat sauce. Nothing was done to put things to rights for us other than a new meal for my daughter. I never got the sandwich I wanted instead of the riti until we were ready to leave. Called management and NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT! more

Bad service would have been better than no service 4/4/2011

My wife and I had discovered this place in October or November. We were impressed! The food was good and the staff seemed friendly. We couldn't wait to go back. more

Best %$^# What?!? 10/7/2010

The menu says the ""best Dam...."" all over the place, don't believe it. Being a neighborhood restaurant, the family likes to meet here occasionally for the family style meals. This place has been slipping for years and not getter better with age. They do offer glutten free foods for those with celiacs disease. more

Awful spaghetti and meatballs 5/4/2010

I have never had spaghetti with stewed tomatoes on it. and the meatballs were hard, dry , tasteless egg shaped things. Pros: great service Cons: poor food more

Great staff, yummy food!! 4/12/2010

Loved this restaurant !!! I am sooooo addicted to the calamari. I had the rigatoni and it was delicious. My husband had the spaghetti w/meatballs and absolutely loved it. I would go there just for the bread and whatever amazing dip they had for it. I am shocked by the comments on here about their staff. Everyone I saw was friendly and seemed very attentive to their tables. We had a waitress named Nicky who made us feel like family and couldn't do enough for us. We will definately be going back :) For everyone who gave bad reviews, give it one more chance. I promise you will love it as much as we did. Highly recommend!! Pros: Bread, Calamari Cons: Not a one :) more

Extensive gluten free menu 4/10/2010

A friend recommended the restaurant based on the great food and gluten free options. I was not disappointed. The gluten free menu is one of the largest I'd seen anywhere. It's very exciting to be able to order french bread with your meal when you're gluten free. Our server was fun and friendly. The food was great and the portions are large enough that I took about half home for lunch the next day. We will definitely be back to try more of the gluten free options. They were one of the most knowledgeable and conscious restaurants about gluten. Pros: great menu and food, friendly service Cons: somewhat loud atmostphere more

Fantastic, Friendly, and Fun! 4/6/2010

I was SHOCKED to see so many negative reviews for Abrusci's! Just goes to prove only whiners post on these things and I would like to set the record straight. Abruschis is a wonderful local restaurant. It has good food, that is very consistant. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal there. Ever. The staff is INCREDIBLY accommodating and friendly. They go out of your way to make sure your meal is correct. I've had them take back food with a smile, when it was my error. It may not be as stanch or formal as some of the restaurants down town, but for my dollar, I prefer good food at a good price, a family friendly environment, and servers with some PERSONALITY. I recommend Abruscis to all my friends and family, we all love it, and I know once you get a taste of this fun, mom and pop place, you'll love it, too. Pros: Great food with Friendly Service in a Family Atmosphere Cons: Can be crowded...make reservations! more

Food is EXCELLENT! SERVICE has gone down hill! 9/23/2009

I wouldn't say my husband and I are ""regulars"" so to speak, we live in the mountains, but we do stop by Abrusci's when we come to Denver, at least once a month. So I would describe us as return costumers. We have always loved the food and atmosphere, but recently had a very discouraging experience. When I saw the other reviews, I felt like I had to add my two cents in.We came in for dinner a few weeks ago, early, because we were on our way home, and it was so beautiful we sat on the patio. Two other tables were sat after us and were greeted well before us by another waiter. Finally, our waitress arrived. She threw bread down, and with out so much as a greeting asked us what we wanted. We ordered as another table was sat, she left without a word and that was the last time she spoke to us till the end of the meal. She spent the next half an hour chatting LOUDLY with the new table (who apparently she knew) using FOUL language and DIRTY HUMOR. The whole patio kept staring at her, I think others were as uncomfortable as we were. Another waitress brought our food, refilled our drinks, even asked us if we wanted more bread or cheese. Our waitress did nothing. My husband had a problem with his pasta but ate it anyway since no one ever came back to check on us. We sometimes caught a glimpse of our Waitress through the glass door playing with other employees in the entrance way. We could always HEAR her when someone opened the door to the patio. We sat forever with empty plates and I finally got up to use the restroom before we left. My husband was fuming by this point and flagged down the other waiter on the patio and asked if he could find our check. As I passed threw the bar to the restroom, I saw our server sitting at the bar DRINKING with other costumers. When told she needed to give us our check, she commented ""We could wait!"" I was FURIOUS. She was going on about how much she hated the job and wanted to do other things. I COMPLETELY AGREE. We finally got a check and were in such a hurry had to leave. My husband plans to email Steve and complain. If you go to Abrusci's, you will love the food, but request one of the boys to wait on you, or even the pretty girl who teaches Soccer or the Pregnant girl. Both have waited on us and are very sweet. If it's a messy looking, Dark haired girl who is loud and rude, demand another Waitress! Pros: Fantastic Food and Great Prices! Cons: Terrible Service more

Good to bad 8/6/2009

I've gone to Abrusci's off and on the past couple of years. At the beginning, both the service and food were good. Pros: food was okay Cons: obnoxious service more

Where's ZERO Stars? 6/9/2009

I have just returned home from the worst Italian meal I have eaten in recent memory, with a dining experience to match. Literally every part of our meal was poor. When we were seated, we had requested a high chair and after waiting for 5 minutes, I finally had to go get one myself. Pros: none to speak og Cons: everything more

Mixed impression 3/12/2009

My wife and I received a coupon to Abrusci's in the mail so we thought we'd drive out to Wheat Ridge and give it a try. Overall we had a nice time, but I don't think either of us will be saying ""Hey, let's go to Abrusci's tonight!"" Some points: Pros: Efficient service, varietous menu, very good salad Cons: Overpriced, mistakes made, my dish was bland, subpar atmosphere more

Disappointed!!!!!! Wanted real Italian food!!! 10/5/2007

My Daughter wanted a true Italian dinner for her birthday and we had always heard good things about Abrusci's. We made reservations because we thought it would be packed. There were only 2 other tables. I suppose that should have been a good indication of how our dining experience would be!! The waiter was very brash and not very helpful in guiding us thru the menu as we were debating on family style or ind.. We had to ask for suggestions and even then not much help. All through diner he just seemed to be irritated we were taking up his time. Hopefully he was just having a bad day and doesn't always act like that. Otherwise he is in the wrong industry. The calimari was very good, but every thing else fell flat. The veal marsala and the spaghetti marinara being the worst. Poorly cooked and no flavor. The waiter also forgot our mediterranean salad. By that point we didn't even bother. So sad, I really wanted this to be a special meal. Still looking for a real Italian experience! Pros: calimari Cons: poor service, food needs flavor more

Highly Recommended 9/28/2007

I highly recommend this neighborhood Italian restaurant. My husband and I first went to Abrusci's for a club event, and even though it is across town from home, we occasionally make the trip to eat there. My husband has even brought home take-out when he found himself in the area for other reasons! The bar is pleasant, although we have never had a long wait for a table. The wine selection is good. The chef is very good. The servings are large and we often take home leftovers. We usually start by sharing a Caesar salad. My favorite dish is Steve's Rigatoni with Sausage and my husband's favorite is the Chicken Marsala. Service has always been excellent. If you are looking for better-than-average Italian food, I highly recommend that you try Abrusci's. more

You Can't Beat Abrusci's! 8/16/2007

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent! I recently ate at Abruscis for the first time and thought I had stumbled into paradise! I am gluten intolerant, and have gotten used to restaurants that limit their gluten free alternatives to a dry piece of chicken and a salad with no dressing (for an additional fee, of course). I have actually eaten at a restaurant that charged extra to bring me a hamburger without the bun! Pros: Great food , and the whole menu is accessible to people with gluten intolerance conditions. Cons: The chef doesn't live at my house. more

Awesome Italian that doesn't require a parking meter or small loan 11/14/2006

Their catch phrase says ""the best d-mn Italian food. Period"". I don't know, I'm not qualified to make or agree with such a statement. But it is seriously good Italian food, and they offer family size portions that are really good and good value. They put a nice twist on traditional favorites and give good service. Entrees range $12-20. Pros: Food, service more

Magnificent 8/4/2003

My fiancee and I had dinner here last week. The food was incredible, the portions were very generous, and the prices were reasonable. The service we received was second to none. We have already decided to have our wedding rehearsal dinner catered by Abruscis and will definitely be dining there often. Pros: Reasonable prices, Unique menu, Outstanding Service more

Excellent! 4/22/2003

This outstanding neighborhood bistro has everything! Abrusci's offers wonderful italian food in a warm, and friendly atmosphere. The staff is efficient and friendly. The prices are reasonable and portions generous. The well-designed dining area is wonderful for a romantic dinner for two, as well as a large party and children. This is a restaurant I will come back to again and again. more
