Very cute place but the lasgana was awful!

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/31/2012

Awesome food! I tried it first with a Sharing Spree and loved it. I've been back since and will continue to try new items on their menu! more

great date place! 8/11/2011

Being one of the only restaurants in Wilsonville, this place is great. I used my Sharing Spree voucher and went on a date night. The food is delicious and the service was fantastic. Over the years, the menu/service has varied but the last couple of visits have been wonderful (hence the 4/5 stars). They offer outdoor seating which is perfect on a warm summer evening and a private room for larger gatherings indoors. Not especially a ""family"" restaurant but, they have always made my children feel welcome. We will continue to visit abella's and recommend it to our friends. I hope they do another Sharing Spree deal!!! more

The Best place to eat in Wilsonville 7/2/2010

Thank you Mark, the owner, I will highly recomend this resturaunt to anyone within 100 miles of Wilsonville. I am sure they have the best food and very fair prices compared to anyone I can think of. Pros: Great Service with Excellent Food Cons: Wine tastes too good! more

Previously excellent, now TERRIBLE Italian 5/7/2010

I was a long time customer at Abella's--it was my favorite resturant. Amazing ambiance, food, and service made it excellent--an all around package. Pros: Great Ambiance, good selection Cons: Low quality ingredients poorly prepared, bad service more

amazing owners and great food 3/3/2010

My boyfriend and I discovered abella on one of our many trips south on I-5 and have since incorporated it into every trip. They have a great selection of wines at a number of price points and if you are feeling overwhelmed the staff or owners are eager to suggest something. We have never had a bad meal, the only down side is that they are a small operation so if they get unexpectedly busy you may have to wait for a table. Even so, the food is well worth the wait and there is something to please everyone. We love this place! Pros: Great food and wine in our own backyard Cons: super popular on weekends, make reservations! more

Terrible and unfriendly service, 1/1/2010

I have eaten in this establishment now approximately 4 times, as I enjoy Italian Food. On every occasion I found the staff unresponsive to my wife and I. On the last occasion they ignored us for sometime, and the waitress was so rude I insisted on talking to the owner but they were unavailable. I encourage everyone who may like Italian to go to Portland until we get a new restaruant in town that can truly respect the customer. I strongly discourage you from even considering this restaurant. I am extremely offended how we were treated. As to the Food-the health code issues raised by the earlier post-would make me concern also. Pros: Nice to have Italian Food in Wilsonville Cons: This is one of the Worst Restaurants I have been in. more

Attitude and Rude waitress makes this place awful 12/13/2009

We stopped in by chance and decided to check this place out. While it was a bit pricey we ordered our meals. I requested no cheese on my salad and it came with cheese on it and it had pine nut rocks in it and we had a chipping of one of our guests tooth from biting into it. I asked for my salad to have the cheese removed and was told that she would have to throw it way and couldn't I just eat it. 1st offense! SO I ordered simple spaghetti and it came covered in parmesan cheese that I requested to be removed. She was rudely abrupt and I was told she would have to throw another plate of food away and gave more rude attitude. When she returned I requested that she take the food away and that her rude attitude needed adjusting. The other entrees were also problematic as no one finished their meals. As she whisked the plates away, she informed us that all the meals were compted and told us to leave. When trying to find management there was no one to be found. Pros: nice decor Cons: lack of staff and awful customer relations more

Poor Health Inspection 4/18/2009

I was thinking about dining a Abella but then I checked thier health inspection. They were the second lowest heath score in Clackamas county. I don't care if they have the best food in town. If they don't care enough to protect the consumers by taking care of the sanitation fo the restaurant, I will never eat there. After I saw the inspection, I saw the restaurant featured on Dirt Dining on KPTV. The manager in the news segment blamed the new chef for the problems. Note to manager: If you have black walls behind your dish tank & dirty ceilings, it's not the new guy, it's your poor management. That stuff didn't grow overnight, it's a long term problem. She looked like a fool on the news. I will never eat there nor will anyone I know. The manager seemed to think that when Dirty Dining had a camera in her face it was time to promote her dirty restaurant saying things were made from scratch...what a fool. Pros: easy to find Cons: dirty reataurant more

A very fine restaurant hidden away in Wilsonville 1/23/2009

This is a very fine restaurant with a great wine selection and outstanding food. I have eaten there 4 or 5 times now and have never been disappointed. I will drive from Tigard to have dinner here. The service is top notch as well. more

Wonderful Service! 1/9/2009

We'd heard about this place from a few friends and decided to go. We loved it! The service was great. The owner himself brought our plates to us and made sure everything was okay. As we were walking out the door, he came over to us and thanked us again for coming. Pros: Ambience, Taste, Service more

Great Italian in Wilsonville 10/1/2008

My wife and I love this place. It is fun to sit in the bar and sample wine ?? they have a great selection. Some our favorites on the menu are the beef ravioli, calzones, eggplant parm, antipasti appetizer. We frequent this restaurant and find the service to be very good and flexible. more

Nice to have Italian in town 9/15/2008

My first experience with Abella's Italian Kitchen was shortly after they opened. I ordered take out and I was not impressed. The food was bland and overpriced for the amount of food. It was quite some time before I went back. Pros: Decor, only local Italian joint Cons: Lunch price more

Needed Culinary Flavor in Wilsonville 5/29/2008

When we first moved to the area I had to get used to ""down town"" being a strip mall. The only dining options were chains. Thank GOD Abella arrived to bring some originality. I've eaten there several times under all sorts of circumstances - with my active young sons, date night with friends, and business meetings. I've always really enjoyed it. My food has always been excellent, and I find the service very friendly and accommodating. It is true that the small independents are more likely to have ""things happen"" then a chain, like being out of a certain wine, or having a less than perfected system. But I've never experienced this myself at Abella. I recommend it highly. Pros: Upscale but comfortable for all situations Cons: in a strip mall, but its Wilsonville... more

Wonderful italian bistro hidden in its nitch of subarbia 4/7/2008

Wonderful italian restaruant, with the abiance of wax burning candles in entry of bistro, well decorated casual bar, with a average selection of beverages,Excellent service while being served from man and wife owner personally, otherwise young barista's and servers that are not as proffesional, and dress to casual for business casual non children friendly atmosphere. Extrodinary pasta, second to none. There pasta's are fesh and over the top.Sure to impress time and time agian with consistancy.Would enjoy if candles were to be litten before seated at table.I utelize this italian bistro for business meetings and clientel and adult luncheons.Enjoying business professional atmosphere, there wine selection could use improvement, also wine vinegrette and olive oil not served unless asked, and of poor quality for quality of pasta entree'sand not always conveniant at table area.Asked from young servers if we were finished to often and to soon.Would like more time for privacy of conversations and enjoyment of meal.Parking is a hassle. I will return time and time agian for the consistancy of there pasta's and non kid friendly business casual atmosphere.I think having the owners personally take itnrest and the class of serving yout hemself to insure the highest quality of service you must experience for your self ! Pros: excellent fresh pasta's and service from owners them self Cons: parking, young servers under dressed for atmosphere of business proffesionals and clientel more

Very burby... average to good food, service spotty 3/21/2008

My husband and I went to Abella 3 times now. The food is good. Wine list is ok. Service is spotty. It really caters to Wilsonville burbs and lot of younger people (teen-20s), as well as some families. Service is disorganized; i.e. they serve the main dish before you barely start your salad and forget to light the candle. The wine is served too warm. Prices are a bit high for the area. Food is good, not overly imaginative, but solid pasta without complaints. I can't think of anything horrible, nor can I think of anything outstanding to report. It's just average.... more

Wonderful every time! 11/14/2007

Abella's is a fantastic restaurant! My husband and I frequent it often. The staff is always warm and helpful and the food is excellent! And I do mean excellent! While reading a few other reviews, I found myself shocked at some of the things they had to say. The food is anything but bland, and I feel as though they have a style all of their own. Why can't a restaurant be elegant in design, gourmet in food style, and casual in feel? I like how they pulled all of these attributes together. It makes the place unique and intriguing. We have been impressed enough to have taken important clients there as well. So, all in all, Abella's is a fantastic place! I highly recommend it! Pros: Food, ambience, service, overall feel Cons: sometimes parking more

Just Ok 10/12/2007

Tried the happy hour. Calimari was just okay, a bit rubbery. Polenta was overpowered by the tanginess of the sauce. Both are on the regular menu. No happy hour drink prices. Abella has a nice wine list and advertises it as ""notable"" but the wait and bar staff do not look old enough to drink. Seriously, class of last year. Jeans and t-shirts are the uniforms and it doesn't suit the prices. Not to mention the paper table cloths. Restaurant interior is nice. Too expensive for just ok food and very casual, inexperienced service staff. Pros: Interior Cons: Averge food, young service staff, prices more

great italian food 9/11/2007

Hello all ""foodies"" Pros: food and wine Cons: parking sometimes more

Nice wine list and stems!! 7/6/2007

Appreciate the effort on the wine stemware, wine list is ok for the burbs. Wine storage is improper (i.e. reds served too warm). We tried this place because it's on passport unlimited dining card and we'll give it another couple tries (we always give new places 3 chances, especially if they accommodate wine geeks)! On to food: we had a nice dinner, it was good, but didn't knock our socks off. We love Italian food, but are also aware of the PNW flare, which we appreciate. We had a pasta dish (alfredo) and chicken, both were nice. Service was very friendly and warm. They were rushed on their feet (busy Friday night), but we were not ignored. We ordered the antipasto and it wasn't worth the $, too few meats and just lacking in effort. If they had parm di proscuitto, then it would be worth it, but seemed to be middle of the road. All in all, it was average to good and expect it can be even better. Again, as a wine geek we appreciate the wine list, stems and will be back to enjoy at least a bottle or two! Pros: Accommodate Wine Geeks, Service is friendly, nice burby place Cons: food can be great or just ok, noisy when crowded. Wine warm at times more
