Hands down, Best Sushi around. 4/18/2008

Ive been going to Abashiri for 3 years now and every time I go the food seems to get better, my palate and I are huge fans of Japanese food, Sushi is like pizza to me, I cant get enough of it. One thing I always run into when going to a Japanese restaurant is a budget, Sushi can be expensive and not always worth putting a hole in your wallet, but with Abashiri in Bloomingdale IL, I can afford the freshest, clean, and delicous sushi I have ever eaten, It is hands down worth your visit, there food is an epic in the mouth of any sushi lover, I am planing on asking my girlfreind to marry me there next week, I know she will say yes just because of the atmosphere and we are deeply in love.. I guarntee you will not be disapointed. When you go there tell them Nathan sent you... Pros: equal on all aspects,, no problems and highly on a same level of ecstatic atmosphere. Cons: Worth every bit of your time driving there and having a happy stomach and wallet leaving there. more

One of the best sushi restaurants in the burbs and city! 2/16/2007

Abashiri is a small authetic sushi and Japanese restaurant in a little strip mall on Lake Street behind the Harris Bank and Dunkin Donuts. Although it may be hard to see off of Lake Street, it is a definite gem in the burbs. I have been there for lunch and dinner and many times see numerous loyal and returning customers (as I am). Lunch offers better service and a shorter turn around time from when you order to when you receive your food - and they have the bento boxes which are an amazing value at around $10 for two sushi rolls, soup, salad and gyoza! The sushi is fresh and they offer the general staples of salmon, tuna, california roll, etc and they have a large number of specialty rolls that they offer. In addition, they are always more than willing to make your order to your liking such as no spicy sauce. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to say hello and goodbye. Additionally, any Japanese restaurant that I see many Japanese customers enjoying reinforces that this is a quality place that is authentic. Pros: Bento lunch boxes and service at the lunch hour Cons: Dinner tends to be slow and the place is a little empty at that time more
