My go-to cinema 1/19/2011

I go to this theatre extremely often, but primarily during the day. I know weekend evenings are unpleasant at all cinemas (exceptions being places that don't allow under-seventeens past a certain times), but Ward Parkway is great during the day. Monday through Thursday, tickets are only $5, and the staff is always helpful and friendly. It's comfortable and always clean. more

Good during the weekday for the price.. avoid otherwise. 9/14/2008

Alright, first off, you need to take this theatre for what it is. Just like Bannister Mall, Ward Parkway was a fine establishment in it's prime. Unfortunately, the mall let go in the same way and this theatre has suffered from it. I'm not even saying this from a racial standpoint, but neighborhood values and mannors are reflected in the general attitudes of the crowd. What I mean by this is to expect ignorance towards our general norms of the movie going experience and know that, generally, the people that go here are loud and immature. Unlike other theatres though, this is reflected in the price (which can make this theatre a pretty good deal at the right times). Honestly, I wouldn't recommend going on a weekend but any other time of the week is fine. You're basically getting the use of an AMC facillity at a discount for your general sercurity. Pros: Good prices at the right times, friendly staff Cons: Horrible atmosphere, might have to go out of your comfort zone more

seating okay, pricing absurd!! 5/30/2008

Localmom79, are you serious? are you really going to try the color thing here? That is so pathetic, slavery ended many many years ago!! Just because people are of different ethnicity and/or race doesn't give anyone a reason to use that as a derogative comeback. Maybe a bit of schooling would help you rather than watching a made up movie from someone elses' imagination. Yeah movies are made up- FYI. Don't try that color bologne. As for AMC at Ward Parkway, you can find 'thugs and wannabe gansters' anywhere in the city including JOCO. I happen to be a little guy that can pull my own weight and don't have any issues with anyone. Mind your own business. The theatre isn't that bad except for the pricing, but nowadays you're going to pay a dollar for an apple. Plus it tends to stink every once in awhile. Pros: One finger Cons: Absurd pricing more

outraged at other reviews 4/13/2008

i usually wouldnt review a movie theater, but i am upset at the other reviews for the ward parkway AMC. Seeing a movie here is a fine experience. If you want no distractions at all while watching a movie, maybe you should stay home. Since when are the kids that live around 86th st considered ""inner city kids?"" Is it because they are not the same color as you? Kids in Johnson county theaters act the same. Obviously you are not a parent. more

This AMC theatre is the worst in town. 2/10/2007

The movie experience is ruined because after the show you have to walk the gauntlet of low class, inner city thugs and kids who have no manners hanging out with nothing to do except harrass passerbyers. The security is absent and it really brings Ward Parkway down to a place where I would not visit to even shop. I'd rather spend more money and drive farther to see a movie at a well managed theatre. The ganster element ruins this theatre. I don't recommend this theatre for family movie watchers. Pros: close to my neighborhood Cons: inner city kids come out to hang out and cause trouble on the weekends more

Worst AMC Theater experience in Kansas City. 1/22/2007

I have never had a good experience at Ward Parkway. It's unfortunate, because the facilities are pretty nice. The problem is that Ward Parkway attracts a pretty impolite type of clientelle. I have not sat through an entire movie without hearing either several cell phones ring, a conversation between people three rows, or people who think that the movie screen can actually hear them when they yell at it. AMC would do well to start removing people from the theater who demonstrate a willful lack of class and common sense. Pros: Good facilities, decent selection of movies Cons: Attracts a certain class of clientelle who mothers' never taught them manners. Loud, obnoxious, and rude. more

Not bad 4/9/2006

This is way better than going to the AMC in Olathe. The tickets cost about 3 to 4 dollars less than those at other AMC theatres. It is never crowded, most days there are no more than a couple other people in the movie theatre with you. Parking is never a problem. The management is always friendly. A bulb went out in the projector of the movie we were there to see, and they let us in to another movie for free, gave us two free passes, and refunded our food! Pros: parking, friendly staff, good food Cons: seating more

fine 7/31/2005

i think this theatre is a FINE place to go see movies. on weekends there will occasionally be people talking but not all the time. more

ignorance galore 2/22/2005

I've been to numerous movies at this location, and seems to be every time, someone is getting up and running around...or someone's calling someone on the cell phone. I have yet to see a movie where girls don't yell across the theatre about their nails gettin done or their braids comin' out. (being honest). So, if you want to actually see a movie that you pay for, don't visit this place. Pros: good parking, never packed Cons: annoying more

easy access 12/30/2002

Though the theatre is in a mall, it has easy access to parking. The ambiance may not be a dream come true for the lobby-lover but I go to the movies for the movie. The sound system in the larger theatres (those with stadium seating) is excellent. The small theatres are cozy and not usually over-crowded. The prices are reasonable--particularly at the twi-lite shows. The popcorn is always fresh and you can stop by Mr. Bulky's on your way in(hint hint). Pros: wide variety of films, kiosk tickets, decent price Cons: not all stadium seats more

What a rotten place 5/21/2002

Don't waste your time going to this theater unless your goal is to NOT watch or hear the movie. The locals leave their pagers and cell phones on and talk all during the movies like they were home in their living room. I have walked out of 3 films there because of that. Star Wars was almost no fun. If I see it again and go there it might be cool because the audience will talk to the movie and that might be entertaining. Otherwise it's not worth the stall popcorn. Pros: AMC is a good chain, Good technology Cons: No crowd control, No starts after 8 PM, Gangstas! more
