village charm! 1/19/2003

I LOVE Southpoint Cinemas and boy, the fact that the management lets you bring in your own concession (i.e. Rocky Mountain Candy Apple) is a major plus! Whenever I see a movie, it's Southpoint or BUST! Pros: good parking, great management, polite help Cons: expense more

Worst Theater In The Triangle 1/7/2003

Poor excuse for a theater. I love going to the movies and this theater does not impress me. First, the lines in concession were a mess, standing in line almost 20minutes to get stale tasting popcorn and rude help. Second, the theater was dirty with litter all over the floor, which should have been cleaned inbetween shows. Finally, the picture quality and sound was subpar with obvious damage to the film itself. When told, the general manager himself shruged off my complaint, and was not helpful at all basically telling me it was all my imagination. I find the smaller 8 plex across town to be much more friendly and more in tune with each individual customers needs. Pros: Selection Cons: Rude management, Dirty theater, Poor Projectionists more

Best mainstream theatre in the area 12/22/2002

This is my favorite mainstream theatre for 3 reasons: seating comfort best popcorn frequent flyer card I go to the movies 2-4 times almost every week & I REALLY appreciate the 3 things I listed above. Pros: frequent flyer card, popcorn, stadium seating Cons: expensive popcorn, inedible pizza, no diet ginger ale more

Agrred.... 12/5/2002

It's a great movie theater, but they seem to only ever have one person working the concession stand. I have missed the beginnings of three movies because of this, and it really does make me choose other theaters instead. The management has to improve its staffing. more

yay 4 SP except for those boring lines 11/1/2002

I think Southpoint Cinemas is a great movie theater. It has a large airy atmosphere, good seats and all the new movies! The seats are comfortable and the theater is clean. Surprise Surprise! so are the bathrooms! I just think that there should be way more ticket stands! I mean, everyone is always at this theater so the lines are humongous! the parkling is totally fine. Pros: Movies, seating, cleanliness Cons: lines, ticket destributers, more types of foods more

Go EARLY or miss the show! 10/4/2002

On my last 3 visits to this theater in the afternoon on a weekday I have stood in line for 15 minutes or LONGER to buy tickets and 10 minutes to buy concessions. My 3 year old and I missed the beginning of a movie today even though we were there 20 minutes before it started! POOR MANAGEMENT! Pros: Stadium seating, Clean, Good Parking Cons: LONG LINES!, SLOW TICKET SALES!, SLOW CONCESSOINS more

What CH has been waiting for 9/3/2002

Thank goodness for Southpoint! Those of you who have been stuck in the Chapel Hill movie blues have found the answer. No more crowding, scary teenagers and non-existant parking at Wynnsong. Southpoint offers everything you could want in a movie theater : quick, courteous ticket buying, a large, beautiful lobby, great variety of movies and times, cozy seats, and not too many ads. Plus you can stroll around and shop or just people watch while waiting for the movie to begin. My favorite: the special $4.25 twilight shows AND student discounts. A wonderful complement to stunning Southpoint mall. Pros: great setting, super-comfy chairs, many showtimes Cons: distant parking, chilly theaters more

One of the Best 9/2/2002

I have lived in NC my whole life, okay roughly. I have been to my Cinemas across the nation (I work for an airlines). Southpoint Cinemas are by far the best I have seen. Clean and cozy. This makes for a wonderful night out. Resaurants are within the area, whatever you want, you can find. This makes for the best dating enviroment ever. Pros: appearance, cleanliness, access Cons: not to cheap more

Excellence! 8/16/2002

I love southpoint cinema. I always make it a point to see films there. I am an avid movie buff. I also love that they have the Durham Police dept. working security there. One night, I was approched by some dangerous characters. Officer D. Smith and Corporal D. F. Klay came to my assistance and chased them off. I was so releived that I narrowly avoided bodily harm that I hugged them both. With tears in my eye's, Corporal D. F. Klay said "" When your in trouble, You know where to find us."" As soon as Officer Smith and Corporal Klay came, They were gone. I always tell my friends that Southpoint cinema is the best. Pros: Price, selection, security Cons: temperature more

Top of the line 8/8/2002

This theater has quickly become one of my favorites in the Triangle--I love everything from the quick ticket service (we never have to wait long) to the cushy chairs to the fact that you can walk outside on a hot summer night and watch the dancing water fountains. My one complaint: the theater chairs squeak! I can't stand to be halfway through a movie and suddenly notice all the squeaking and creaking going on around me. Pros: Great setting Cons: Squeaky chairs more

responsive management 5/24/2002

I have been to Southpoint a few times, and each time the staff have been very polite and made every effort to get answers to questions.. (where to stand in line for Star Wars in theater 7?) When the sound wasn't right, they responded immediately. Great experience. Plus the popcorn is great! Pros: clean, large theaters, comfortable seating more

super size screens 5/23/2002

my husband and I have enjoyed the supersized sreens, stadium seating and friendly managers that brought the concessions right into our theatre as well as provided fun give-aways as well as playful banter. The regular ticket prices are also a few cents less than most in the area. Plus, when your movie's finished, who can pass up an ice cream cone or candy apple located next door. The all around atmosphere is terrific. Why not feel like your on vacation when your going to the movies. Pros: less expensive, atmosphere, crowd control Cons: hard to park, more concessions more
