On August 3rd of 2011 Abee's came to my house due to a problem that I had with wasps, which had inhabited my fireplace. When the technician arrived he refused to inspect my fireplace because he believed it to be unlikely that wasps would be in my fireplace. The technician was here for about 20 minutes and then I was given a $230.00 bill, to my obvious surprise. I paid the $68.00 trip fee but disputed the remaining balance because my problem was not only not fixed but it was never even inspected. The following day I had Augustine Exterminators (a very reputable extermination company) come inspect the fireplace for a wasp's nest and low and behold they did in fact find a wasp's nest in the fireplace. I tried for 6 months to contact Abee's via email and telephone about my remaining balance to which I received no response. Then this February I received a bill for the total amount of my bill plus additional fees for not paying within 10 days. I immediately contacted Abee's and was again met with the response that they could not be reached by phone but only via email. Eventually, through several long emails Abee's agreed to only bill me for the remaining balance ($134.00) and not the additional fees. I have paid the $134.00 only because I am exhausted from the fighting. However, I am disappointed in myself that I was bullied by a company into paying for a service that was not only insufficient, but ineffective. And, what is most unfortunate is that now I feel I must be wary of all small businesses. My hope is that this complaint helps other consumers to avoid this business at all cost; for reasons that are not limited to but include, their inefficiency, their lack of communication, their unfair market prices and abhorrent customer service.
