I spent my afternoon looking for a place that offers state inspections on a Saturday, being my only day off, but had little luck. After a few hours I figured I'd just go to whatever was closest and ended up at Midas. The Attendant was very helpful and knowledgeable about what he does and told me that it would take a few hours where other places said it would be sometime in the afternoon. A hitched ride home and a phone call later and I was told that the only problem was the windshield wipers, something I already knew, and that 'recommended' procedures included transmission fluid change...and something else. He did not try to convince me that this was essential and only charged $27 bucks total for the diagnosis and wiper install. As a side note, I was told that my 1998 Honda Civic DX was very rare to find with such low mileage (below 88k) and in such condition, something which I had no clue. Anyway, I am very happy with my visit and will put Midas at the top of my priority list in the future. more

I tend to be distrustful of all garages, but I had a very good experience at Midas on Hull St. While they recommended more services than I came in for, I was not pressured to do any of them that day. I will go back in a few months when I have saved up some more money and get some of the other services done. This time I just had the brakes worked on: rotors ground and bearings repacked (they said new brakes were not needed!). My brakes are working great now--I actually noticed a difference. more
