A-1 Tree Service

Incredibly unprofessional, he wasted my time and left me hanging!!! I contacted A-1 based on good reviews including one for the same service I needed - chipping several large piles of pruned tree branches. Jerry returned my call a day later and swung by that afternoon to take a look. He gave me an estimate and I agreed to his rates. He had me sign his estimate and we scheduled the work for 10 days later. It was farther out than I would have preferred, but it would still have been finished the Thursday before the Memorial Day holiday when I had family arriving from out of state. I stayed home on Thursday to facilitate the work. By that afternoon, no one had arrived and I had received no phone call indicating there was a problem or delay. I called to find out what was up and got screened by an answering machine. I called two more times that day and once again on Friday but never received any return call. Nor did anyone ever show up to do the work. If Jerry hadn't agreed to do the work, had me sign his estimate and scheduled the work I would have had plenty of time to arrange for someone else to do the work. I ended up having to rent a chipper and my family and I had to do the work instead of the vacation we had planned. more

A-1 was our 3rd bid on bringing down 2 massive 130 ft tall trees next to our house. Because of the size of the trees and because they were only about 20 ft from our house, we were very stressed about the whole process. In the two previous bids we were told the adjacent fence would have to be torn down and a Japanese maple would have to be moved. Plus the prices were high. Jerry from A-1 is very friendly and experienced. He assurred me there would be no need to move or tear down anything. His crew was very professional and brought down both trees in one day, dropping all the rounds into a 10 ft by 10ft area. They made it look so easy! The price was very reasonable and much better than the bid from the larger companies that wanted to tear up our yard in the process. You can't even tell the trees - or A-1 - was even there. These guys are now in my permanent contact list for tree services. more

Good: Very professional, prompt and clear communication. Got a difficult job done well. We are doing a new fence and there are a few stumps in the back of the forest that other companies did not want to grind because of the difficult access to those stumps. Jerry took care of the problem and was charging a very fair price for it. Also, he cleaned up the ground up mulch for the stumps in the front as well, which another company that we have used before was not willing to do. A+++ service.. Bad: None. more

Sorry Chris D based on your recommendation I did try to call them - in fact I tried 3 times over 3 weeks and never ever got a call back.. All I get is an answering machine...Based on that can't say my experience with them was very good more

I had an excellent experience with these guys. I would give them 10 stars if i could. They did a great job and they were also significantly cheaper than the other 2 companies i had gotten bids from. Jerry Wall is a great person to deal with. They can handle very large trees and difficult jobs (see below). Details: I needed to get 2 large douglas firs removed. One of them was enormous. I was a 200+ years old tree with a diameter of 5 feet at the base. To make things more interesting this tree was about 4 yards from the neighbor's house. They had to bring a crane. First they chopped off the limbs. Some of them were 3,000 pounds. Then they cut off the tree in sections. Each one was about 5 tons. That's the weight of two Jeep Grand Cherokee's. Needless to say, i was scared s***less. But they did a really good job and a thorough cleanup afterwards. One last thing: if your trees are so large that you need a crane, they will make you sign a liability waiver for potential damage to your driveway. I did not like this but there is just no way around it. A-1 Tree service is insured and takes responsibility for their work.
