I have been hosting multiple domains with web sites on 1&1 since 2007 at least and the reliability and availability have been excellent. Support has always been very helpful and quick. Domain services have been excellent ... I have had domains directly with them and external domains with DNS point to and the hosting on thier system. I get all of my important email with the domains I host and the email service has also been excellent. more

Bad: I called to get a 500 server error fixed to have FTP work. Two days later and a "supervisor" it is still not working and their supervisor told me "we do not guarantee your problem will be fixed". When I asked for the coprorate number in PA, I was given a fax number. Then, I was finally told it was sent to someone in Germany to fix the problem.. Improvements: Put the corporate contact number on the website. The number of calls might get them to improve service!. Other: I have had multiple accounts with 1and1. This is the 5th 500 server error problem I have had on my different accounts. I am not looking to move my 60+ domains somewhere else. 1and1 is not reliable.. more

I like this company. It provides great web hosting services. Especially if you want to create a family site for those baby pictures, family vacations, or wedding pictures etc. Sometimes they run this special where you get free web hosting for 3 years and then you have to pay for a web domain. They also have specials on domains as well. But they have to end in .us or something wierd like that. Sometimes they are free or a $1 a year or something like that. You can get the regular .com, .net, or .org, but thats more, something like $30 for 6 months. The bad thing is they automatically charge your account every 6 months, until you cancel. This is truly the cheapest company for web hosting and domains. Be sure to check out some of their specials. more

1&1's web service is pretty good, as long as you plan on running a basic website on it (aka: just html no scripting and no databases). They're pricing is decent its just the servers that are problematic. Its not that the servers go down, its just that they tend to get VERY slow quite often. I would not recommend this host if you are looking to use them for a site that requires mySQL. They make it difficult to manage the database, and the database servers are incredibly, horribly slow. more

1&1 offers many different web hosting packages, from shared to dedicated servers, all at reasonable prices. It is hard to find a better value -- 1&1 is pretty reliable and the price is comparable to many vendors with less reliable servers and internet connections. Depending on the package purchased, service can vary. Additionally, some of the documentation and server software is in German, or poorly translated to English. more
