My partner and I are from South Africa and upon our arrival in Los Angeles, we started searching for the ideal place to stay in LA. I happen to stumble across an article in the Vanity Fair on a little hotel called The Charlie Hotel. I gave one look at the pictures and decided that this place sure looks promising enough to go and check it out. Little did I know what was waiting for us... A magical world, hidden from the streets, unfolded in front of our eyes as we walked through the entrance of The Charlie Hotel. A magical fairy-like garden, with roses that are not only a feast for your eyes, but also a pleasantry for your nose, includes the odd curious squirrel and big, shiny black crows. We allowed the pleasant fragrance to lead us down the little path and discovered what makes this place so lovely: beautiful bungalows (built and furnished in 1920's story book style), a mutual wooden deck where you can host fancy tea parties, a little area by a fire place outside, where you and your loved one can share a glass of wine. Excellent service that includes housekeeping 5 days a week and fresh flowers every week. Add the very friendly and pleasant hotel owner with his staff here at The Charlie and you have found your home...away from home.
