The Toledo Zoo is a load of fun. Their new Africa Area is beautiful and taking a train ride through the open Animal Exhibit there makes you feel almost like you're not in a zoo at all. They have had plenty of good luck with breeding in the last few years with a new elephant, a giraffe, gorillas, wolves, tigers and more being born. The atmosphere is fun as well as educational. Although the regular price is fairly high Lucas county residents can get in free from 10 to 12 am on Mondays except holidays, and membership is very well priced. And when it's time to eat there are a number of places to check out, but I suggest the Carnivore Cafe where they once housed the big cats. It's fun to eat in the old cages, and they have yummy food.
