Review content:
I live in DARC. My reaction to seeing the review, "DeKalb Area Retirement Center" was, "I can't believe it." Even though the review was not really negative, it doesn't descibe the place I know. I suspect there are better facilities that DARC, but they would be exceptional and would certainly be quite expensive, costing much more than the great majority of us can afford. My wife and I have lived here for almost six years. I've almost never noticed an "odd medicinal smell." I suspect that in the Health Center or near one of the nurses stations, there might be a medicinal odor once in awhile. There certainly isn't anything like that "throughout" the facility. My wife and I consider the move to Oak Crest (DeKalb Retirement Center) one of the best major decisions we've made in our 51 years together. I've often heard othe residents say the same thing.
