Actually called Citizen's Bank now, and located nationwide, I guess. I was trying to close my account and a check came in that I was not aware was still outstanding and overdrew my account. It took several days for me to get the notice (it was early december - a busy time for the postal service, I'm sure), and I went in a couple of days after I got it (when I was able to) to deposit the amount it said I was overdrawn. I thought I was all set, waited to get my statement and balanced it toward the end of the month. Then I called to be sure everything was all set before going into the branch to close it. Imagine my shock when I found out I was overdrawn! Apparantly, I ended up with a sustained overdraft fee before I made it in, they never gave me my balance or told me I was still overdrawn when I made my deposit and I received no notices, and they started accumulating every 4 days! I spent the next 2 weeks trying to straigten it out, and no one could help me, you have to speak to someone else was the standard answer. I went to the branch and the branch manager was supposed to call me back and never did. I finally asked for a balance, which no in the meantime had thought important to tell me, and made the deposit to get it closed out at least. Then I filed a complaint with the OCC and NYS Attorney General. I would have liked an apology for the poor customer service and a full or partial refund of fees, but they said they didn't feel they were at fault at all.
