Businiess name:  Metropolitian Golf Links

Metro ( or 'the Met' ) is my home course and it's certainly the best thing Oakland has going in the public golf arena. It's now been open a couple of seasons, and as bayside courses will do - especially those built on a former landfill space - they have some problems growing grasses in some spots. That said, it's a good layout, and the wind is almost always blowing, which the design depends upon for making this course have any teeth. It's about 7,000 from the tips, and if the wind is up, it's all you want to tackle. If you get it on a calm morning, birdies can be plentiful. Oakland residents get a good deal for the first 1.5 hrs of tee times. You can play the back nine before anyone makes the turn for about $15. A great way to get some holes in before heading to the office. All in all, a good place, convenient for Oaklanders, reasonably priced, good practice facilities, etc. If you're going out on a weekend, get the earliest possible tee time to avoid slow afternoons. www.playmetro.com
