He was nice and personable, but was restricted by a busy schedule. He went through my x-ray and the entire procedure with me; no video, which I actually liked. He talked fast, but didn't leave anything out, and was more than willing to answer any questions I had. Didn't feel pressured into having general anesthesia for the operation, but he also didn't recommend local as all four of my wisdom teeth were impacted. I would have gone to him for the actual extraction, but ended up going to Dr. Mark Oseas, also in Torrance, because he provides conscious IV sedation in addition to local and general anesthesia; more choices, which I liked, and provided a middle ground for me. Although, it should be noted, for some people, even local can cause a severe bad reaction, so there is always risk: local, sedation, laughing gas, general. I would definitely consider checking out Dr. Hanel, as I did feel comfortable with him. My childhood dentist recommended Dr. Hanel and Dr. Oseas; the most recent dentist I saw said Hanel was a good doctor, too; although, he took his daughter to Oseas.
Pros: Nice, personable, didn't feel pressured. Nice staff.
Cons: Busy, felt slightly rushed during consultation.
