Apartment hunting in Manhattan can be torturous. Innovative Apartments made my experience even worse. At first, they are very nice and like to reassure you that you WILL find the apartment of your dreams. They kept promising customer service and personal attention. However, it is furthest from the truth! It was impossible to get through to the ""customer service"" department. I left numerous messages on their voicemail, but nobody ever returned my phone calls. You'll notice the lack of apartment listings on their web site. They will tell you, don't worry, we don't post all our apartments on there, and that once you sign up, you'll receive all the listings in an e-mail. Do NOT believe them. The ""listings"" I received were for apartments not in my price range or not within my move-in date. When I did call about one apartment, it was a listing wtih JR Properties! Some people will recognize the name, because they list no-fee apartments on their web site. The original listing that Innovative Apts sent me was for a really old listing from JR Properties. Not only was it unavailable, but it was several hundred dollars more than was noted by Innovative Apts. The JR Properties associate actually told me that Innovative Apts like to go on the free web sites like CL and the like and re-post the listings on their web site. For the second apartment I called, it was actually for a SUBLET that a college student had listed on CL originally! I got so fed up, I just used a realtor to find my apartment. Please save yourself the money, trouble, time, and energy. AVOID these scam artists. Trust me, you'll be doing yourself a big favor.
