The last time I filled a prescription for a pair of eyeglasses, I got two pairs- one from here and from the office where I had my eyes examined in Manhattan. The ones from through the other place (an with my union optical plan) always gave me problems so I rarely switched to them.\r \r The people at Rockville Optical take the time to make sure the RX is filled correctly and don't try to sell a bunch of features you don't need. I have a very expensive prescription so when I pick out a pair of frames that were $250, the salesperson said ""oh, these look great on you but they're pricey, are you sure you don't want to look at a less expensive frame in that style for you?"" I didn't, but it's nice to know there are places that aren't looking to make a fortune off of you.\r \r Two years later and it's time for a checkup so I went to a new ophthalmologist. He explained that the pair I have from Rockville Optical were filled correctly, the other place used a weaker lens and that's why I could never see as well with them. You can bet I'm taking the trip back to LI to change the lenses on both pairs of glasses to my new RX! \r \r The only downside is that since they don't do eye exams, I need to go ""out of plan"" to use their services. Since there is little more important to me that preserving my vision- it is still well worth the travel and expense to know I am is good hands. Pros: metered parking around the back and on the street Cons: don't do exams or contact lenses
