Businiess name:  Harvey's Ace Hardware
Review by:  citysearch c.
Review content:
I've been going to Harvey's for years because I want to support the local guy when I can. However, since Harvey has stepped down and Gary took over, the customer friendly attitude and service has gone down hill. I bought two pieces of hardware but didn't use them and returned them two days later. I asked for a refund (it was for 8 dollars) and was told by Gary that ""store policy"" is to issue a credit without a receipt. When I pleaded that I come in quite often and would like an exception, he reiterated, without apology, that was store policy. This is what I expect from a large box store, or if it had been used or without the stickers. But part of the value of the local hardware store is that they know you and help you out. I understand having a policy in place, and I also understand losing a customer because you won't make an exception to the policy. I will now use Green's in Wellesley or Lowes in Dedham - it's too bad that Harvey's lost a customer over 8 bucks. Pros: local Cons: act like large box stores on returns
