Review content:
My Europe-based company sent me to its NYC office for a few months. I stayed at AVE Clifton's 'corporate' housing/furnished apt. My stay here was difficult because I did not have a car. It was hard to get around and to do basic stuff such as grocery shopping. The staff did not provide a ""handy"" booklet showing showing where shops, restaurants, barber, etc were located. There are buses to NYC but they run unpredictably. The train station was almost a 30-minute walk away. Some of my colleagues who stayed at AVE Union said they had a good experience -- the train station is right there and they got a comprehensive welcome kit. The staff at AVE Clifton consisted mostly of a certain type of young females who were constantly flirting with the male residents sometimes at the expense of attending to a woman resident. Of course a lot travelers are men and the overly friendliness could be intentional but I expected a certain level of professionalism. The ""older"" staff were helpful and knowledgeable. There is a pool that is open from 10 AM to 8 PM in the summer months but I only enjoyed it on some weekends because I didn't get home from work before 8. The grounds and common areas are well maintained. The apartments not so much. The walls in the bathroom had paint-blisters indicative of water damage. There was also water leaking from the ceiling of the balcony. The walls are well insulated horizontally but vertically I could hear the neighbor's washing machine, sink grinder, bathroom blower, loud music. Getting around was the worst part of my stay. Public transportation stops running after 11PM so when I hang out in NYC I had to be mindful of the time or take a $65 cab ride back to NJ. I wound up having to get my haircuts in NYC, shop, eat in NYC. Eventually my company moved me to corporate housing in NYC.
