I was part of Class of '97, though I only attended 93-95. Some of the teachers really stood out as being excellent. Mr. Miller for Math, the late Mr. Hickey for Jazz Band (one of the best teachers I've ever had), Mr. Walker for Spanish, and Mr. Smith for World History. Conversely, Mr. Bantau single-handedly turned me off the subject of math with his Geometry class. I had some run-ins with Mr. Henry (who was later let go for reasons not entirely clear to me), and whoever my P.E. teacher was, she ruled with an iron fist. It was a raquet-sports class; chill out already! At least I got a doctor's note so I didn't have to deal with running the track; the cold air would burn my lungs. The cafeteria food was actually not that bad, and the pizzas and seasoned fries are a fond memory. The bullies were the real reason I left, I think. One time in 9th grade Biology, the teacher (who was in his first year) read out the grades for the class at the end of the semester. Most got C's and below, and when I heard my name and an ""A"" put together, I knew I'd get it. In the science hallway, one of the lower-grade students pulled me aside by my collar, and just before socking me in the face, said ""stupid Brain."" There were a few other kids who hassled me on a regular basis but they're all busting tables at the all-you-can eat pizza buffet in Victorville, so it's all worked out. Pros: some excellent teachers Cons: some bad teachers, bullies, no snow days
