First off, the people at this shop are awesome, but someone is mandating they lie and rip people off. I went here with my bike, needing some cosmetic repair, nothing serious but the previous owner had crashed it and it needed to be fixed. The original estimate was reasonable-ish, at $1000 to $1200 with most of the labor included in the price. When I came back a week later, much to my dismay they told me that the original estimate was incorrect and it was going to be 3 grand... that's THREE TIMES the original estimate ! So i said hell no. Getting the bike back was an uncomfortable process to say the least but i'm not going to get into that. Next thing I did was ask a second opinion. The second estimate was $2000 - $2100 MAX but note that this estimate had new tires included which the first did not. That was still too much for me so I did it myself. The total repairs cost me $600 and it took me 3 hours to do.... so that can just tell you that they're tacking on a HELL OF A LOT of UNNECESSARY FEES !!! Here's a synopsis : Their first estimate - $1000 Final estimate - $3000 Final ACTUAL COST - $600 +/- $100 So, if you don't mind getting ripped off, by all means go to cycle city.
