Businiess name:  Kaija's Garden & Pet
Review by:  citysearch c.
Review content:
Kaija's works hand in hand with the Lewis County Animal Shelter as an off site adoption point. Over 500 cats and kittens are adopted every year. The contract people sign when they adopt an animal states: ""Animals are screened prior to adoption for any temperament or visible health problems. However, many behavioral problems do not surface in a controlled environment & some animal diseases may incubate for up to two weeks before symptoms appear. Please understand that there are no claims or representations regarding the behavior, health or temperament of animals put up for adoption. I accept full responsibility for any risks associated with the ownership of this pet, and herby release and waive any right against Friends of Lewis County Animal Shelter, \r Kaijas Garden & Pet or other offsite adoption point that I may have now or in the future, for any damages to person or property caused by said animal. Large numbers of animals are adopted yearly. Many have never been vaccinated until they are turned in for adoption. Because of this, cats may have been exposed to an upper respiratory infection or other disease even if they may appear healthy at the time of adoption. Any additional costs associated with this risk are at the adopters expense. Please be aware that some diseases including but not limited to upper respiratory infection are highly contagious and may be passed to other household pets"". If a kitty becomes sick within 3 days of adoption, we will refund an adoption fee if they want to bring a kitty back. If they choose to keep the kitty, they are responsible for medical fees. Not everyone is happy with this, but Kaija's does not benefit monetarily from these adoptions. This is something that is done to try to find homes for these kitties. Every once in a while there is a problem but I feel that the good that is done for the shelter outweighs this.\r \r
