My frnd & I went on a Fri lunch & walked into a crowded entry. Now we know it was the slow line to pay & not people clamoring to get in this disappointing eatery. It was our 1st time here so we gave in to patience & were shortly seated. I ordered the ""Epicurean"" an open-faced, untoasted, white bread topped w/turkey, ham, mushrooms, white wine sauce & cheddar chz. It also came w/side salad. When it arrived it came w/out mushrooms & I was informed they had run out & I cld now order something else. I decided to eat the barely warm sammy w/the salad w/raspberry vinagrette. That was the worst vinagrette I've ever tasted. It was corn syrup & red food coloring--just as awful was the poppyseed dressing. Plus the salad had a bit of a moldy taste to it. My friend ordered the ham 'n chz quiche also served warm w/the same old salad. Nothing we had was worth recommending. Even the iced tea was $2 a glass. The service was fine though. I wanted to get some pastries to go then heard other patrons proclaiming they were dry. They happen to use this antiquated cash register that is slow enuf that the hostess had time enuf to seat two other couples while we waited! For tea room fare try the British Tea Room in Bracken outside Loop 1604 & Nacodoches. Pros: close to other restaurants Cons: small portions
