Review content:
My first ballet class, my first pointe class, and my first jazz class was at the American Ballet School of Apex. Now, after going on to obtain degrees in dance and musical theatre from Elon University (Burlington, NC), I am a professional dancer, singer, and actress. I can't imagine how I would have gotten the chance to fulfill my dream of being an entertainer for a living if it hadn't been for the guidance, wisdom, and experience of Karen Vollrath and her team of instructors. Attending the dance school from 1998 until 2003, I received attentive, individual, nurturing training in the art of dance and performing. This is something that is in my opinion, necessary and yet hard to find, especially from schools bloated in size and class numbers. Karen and her team take the time to recognize individual strengths and potential, and in doing so cultivate each students' unique abilities in dance and performing arts. The American Ballet School is a place where it is possibly for each student to achieve the level of excellence in dance that they choose, whether that is to simply dance for recreation, physical exuberance, and extracurricular activity, or to progress to a higher collegiate or professional level of dance and performance. The American Ballet School produces 2 to 3 professional-quality performances per year; opportunities which are essential to the effective cultivation of the art of dance.
