Review content:
Avoid renting from any of Parliament's buildings in Chicago. They consistenty neglect maintenance of their buildings, they are rude when you call to report ongoing issues that they claim to have fixed. Specifically, the building at 516 W Briar Place, Chicago, IL 60657 has had ongoing water issues. When it rains outside, it rains in your apartment. It has happened for years and has happened to everyone on the top floor, as well as floors below. It leaks from the ceilings, it leaks from the walls, and it leaks from the floors. Parliament refuses to fix the roof and treats the tenants with disrespect when reporting the problem and insults our intelligence each time by telling us the problem is fixed. The constant water running through the walls, etc only breads mold, which is a serious health issue, not to mention a violation of the landlord/tenant agreement. In addition to the ongoing water/leakage issues, there is just overall neglect of the building. Two weeks ago, the power was out so I had to walk up 14 flights of stairs. Not surprisingly, the emergency lights in the stairwells were not working. No battery power, no emergency generated power, nothing. I strongly suggest you steer clear of this management company when looking to rent an apartment. They are very slow to fix problems and even slower to compensate you for loss of your personal property due to their neglect. Security is another HUGE issue with our building. People from the streets hang out in the stairwells and when this is reported to Parliament, they simply say, call 911. How about changing the main front door locks every now & again? How about implementing some security measures such as a camera so people can see who they buzz in? IF YOU ENCOUNTER A PROBLEM, CONTACT THE ILLINOIS TENANTS UNION, THE CITY OF CHICAGO, AND THE B B BUREAU. Maybe Parliament will listen then.
Pros: If you find any, let me know
Cons: Smell, managment, maintenance, poor value, mold, security, neglect
