For over 2 years I battled a virus typically thought of as a minor childhood illness. I am a teacher and never dreamed that a virus could last so long. We had an outbreak of fifths disease at our school and 4 parents and I came down with alarming heart rate changes, dizzy spells to the the point of almost passing out, insomnia, and extreme exhaustion. We all ended up in the ER for possible heart problems (separately not knowing each other's condition until later). After about a week we all began discussing the issues and noticed several of our children had a very red rash on their cheeks. We all got tested for parvovirus B19 and they came out positive. All of our doctors said there was nothing that could be done since it was a viral illness and it should go away quickly on its own. Well, it did not. In fact, all 5 of us had severe symptoms for at least 6 months and continued to have symptoms on and off for 2 years. All of us went to different doctors and could get no help. Finally, 2 of us decided to go to Queen City Alternative health (recommended by another parent from the school). We have both had great success in the remission of the virus and finally feel ""human"" again. Pros: Great experience on every visit Cons: Long drive but worth it!
