This appointment was arranged by the Dept. of Social Services(Lucy K. Hildebrand). I arrived with the requested items ( medications and picture ID) The doctor informed me I would need to come back with my prosthetic leg for gait evaluation. I asked why the appt. confirmation didnt include the request to bring the leg with me, her response was flippant- stating I should wear the prosthetic all the time- I informed her of the problems with socket size and resulting skin breakdown, and back problems- The leg is being modified for fit- I will come back in one week for the exam with the leg- This doctors name is Dr. Akins-before she checked my ears, nose and throat, she asked how I lost my leg- A motorcycle accident caused a left leg amputation above the knee- TBI(traumatic brain injury) Abodominal degloving and complete fracture of left arm- resulting in very limited range of motion and strength- Her response to this was belittling to my character and she went on to comment on my tattoos- ""Did you get the tattooos before or after the accident?"""" And this ensued a lecture on how to present myself to a prospective employer- As to hide the tattoos with clothing or makeup to make a better impression. The exam did not include attention to the health of the amputation or any of the other injuries. I left the office with a feeling of an inadequate service and attention to the required evaluation of my physcial disabilities. The personal opionions of this woman have caused a great amount of undue stress resulting in several seizures. I am going to contact the Department of Social Services to make an official complaint and to arrange another evaluation. Pros: The parking is okay Cons: Poor evaluation of a State recommended agency
