The whole experience was totally awesome. My stylist Keiko did a great job. I am not Japanese but I wanted to try a different hairstyle and so I went inside Japan Center Beauty Clinic at Japan town. Keiko was really great, she first sat me down and evaluated my hair. Then she recommended that I get layers to frame my face. I just told her to do whatever she wanted, and after an hour, I got the best haircut ever! Unlike other popular hair salons, Keiko did everything..from shampoo, to haircut to drying etc,, she did everything! And so I did not have any problem waiting on her to finish up on someone else's hair because each stylist was assigned to one client. Not like Cintra Salon where there is a head stylist that just cuts your hair for 5 minutes then leaves it to his or her assistants to finish the job. Aside from that, the price is totally affordable..40 dollars..but I think they increased it now to 50..who cares, the salon is still way cheaper than other places in downtown San Francisco. The customer service is great as well and the stylists are so nice and friendly. The location is also accessible by Muni 38. I highly recommend this place. Pros: Ambiance, parking, food is near Cons: none :-)
