We have tried most of the Indian restaurants in the Bay Area and Ajanta is our favorite, by far. We have been going there for years now because the food is always inventive and delicious, the ambience is inviting, the service fast and attentive -who could ask for anything more? The prices are also very fair. Some people overlook that the cost of the meal includes naan bread as well as rice and vegetables, chutneys/dips and pappadum, some or all of which other restaurants charge for separately. The changing menu every month keeps it interesting, the wine list is outstanding and the desserts are beyond compare. We continue to try other places because we love Indian food, but we always come back to Ajanta!
