Several months ago, I happened upon dimend SCAASI's website with a piece of art that stole my heart. The DREAM setting with an Asscher cut.
I'm currently living in Lincoln, Nebraska and my fiance' lives in South Dakota. He knew I had my eye on this ring but of course, we wondered if it would live up to it's image on the internet. We scheduled a trip to Chicago just for this purpose. In the interim, I did a great deal of research on diamonds in general and searched high and low for a comparable design. There wasn't anything else so unique yet classic. Like many of dimend SCAASI's jewelry, it stands alone.
Sent an email requesting more information and Shannon responded promptly. I had a couple of other after thoughts and every time I wrote or phoned, Shannon was helpful, responsive and quite friendly. I've since read elsewhere that she has worked here several years which sometimes creates a jaded employee however, we found her to be engaged and enthusiastic about accommodating our project.
When we arrived, it was pouring rain but there was valet parking (that they covered for us for the day so we could check out the park and shop on the magnificent mile nearby!) and within minutes of pulling up, Isaac himself was greeting us at the door on the 17th Floor.
I must tell you that as a person who enjoys spending money on quality items, I've met some owners who are grounded and personable yet others who maintain an air of elitism that puts one off. Isaac couldn't have been more warm, genuine, and down to earth yet also had an air of sophistication and that easy knowledge which only comes with incredible expertise.
He had several layers of rings available for us to view at our leisure in private. In fact, I'm aware of the many security measures in place as both my fiance' and I are in law enforcement, but Isaac didn't know that at the time and they were incredibly user friendly. It was a Saturday AM and there were several walk-in's and the phone was ringing frequently. There's no question they have great business (so make an appointment!) but we never felt rushed. He chatted with us and then left us to ponder and compare. Would touch base, tell an interesting anecdote, answer some questions, then depart again to allow us to discuss amongst ourselves. This was the pattern so it was attentive but with no pressure.
The ring was all that it appeared to be and it was absolutely stunning. When we were sure we wanted that setting in particular and started looking at the diamonds themselves, Isaac actually talked us out of a stone that was $3,000 more because he said it just didn't make that much difference in the scheme of things! He felt we would be equally as happy with a slightly smaller stone that would look the same as the demo, if not better, once it was placed in the setting. It just wasn't necessary to spend more in this situation.
He also reviewed their upgrade policy and quickly described the rest of the process on our ring. When he learned we had a trip to Estes Park in a month, he put a rush on the ring so I'd have it in time to show off on our vacation.
All in all, this was an incredible experience and of course, I'll have to come back once the ring arrives and let you all know if this incredible trend of quality product and service continued to the finish line, but I am confident all will be well.
