I brought my glasses to Spex in Buffalo Grove to be fixed since they still were under warranty. While I waited, he employee said she'd like to adjust the frames that I was wearing a little bit behind the ears. I told her that I didn't think she could since those glasses are so sturdy that they can't be bent. She told me that they can do it, they just have to be warmed up and she took them inside. My baby started crying and I went to check on her. When I came back the employee told me that she had broken my glasses and wasn't sure what to do so she'd ask her manager and give me a call in two hours. There were three people working there that day. One of them happens to be the store manager (Martha Garvin). She witnessed all this since I was the only customer at the moment. Ever since, I have been calling them on a regular basis and they only come up with excuses about managers being out of town. It has been three months. Their original compensation they came up with for breaking my glasses was to give me a discount for the purchase of sunglasses. That doesn't even begin to solve my problem. Another month went by during which I kept calling them as always. Then they said the manager said we'd talk about options selected by them of replacement frames but that I would have to pay for the lenses. They claim because the lenses were not broken but they intend to replace my frames with different ones and the lenses I have would not fit them. I said that again, making me pay for it doesn't solve my problem and their response was an acusation of having gone to the store originally expecting to get free glasses from them. Three and a half months and I am still without my presciption glasses. They have no right to break my property and I have been tld by a lawyer that they have the legal obligation to pay for them. Not to mention they can more than afford to. They are an eye glass store, it's not like this happened at the bakery.
