Review content:
I am half Indian and grew up with Indian food. My friends and I went to the Jewel of the Crown for lunch after hearing good things about it. After about 15 minutes of being seated (with no other customers in the restaurant) we finally had water glasses filled. In another 5 or 10 minutes, the waiter/owner came over. Many people had questions about the lunch menu, and one of my friends actually stopped in the middle of her question after he rudely cut her off. When he left with our order, we all commented on how he treated us as though we were a bother to even be there. When my meal came, it wasn?t what I had expected and when I asked him about it he proceeded to YELL at me and treat me as though I was a child. I have NEVER seen such absolutely rude and insulting behavior! It was atrocious and we all agreed we would never come back, nor recommend it. Apparently the old Jewel of the Crown (when it was located closer to Old Town Scottsdale) was fantastic. It is now appalling. Even if the service had been good, the food was awful. All those that had eaten Indian food before agreed it was bland, dry and lacking any spice whatsoever (even when asking for spicy). Do not waste your time!!! It?s worth the drive to Tempe to the Royal Taj for good food and good service. If you don?t want to go that far, try the Bollywood Brasserie in Scottsdale for good food.
Pros: Ambiance is nice
Cons: Prepare to be insulted and have awful food
