P. F. Changs is one of my favorite places to eat in the Birmingham area and it is my favorite Chinese slanted restaurant. I eat there about once a month and have tried several things off the menu. I have never been disappointed in anything I have ordered, but my favorite entree so far is the Crispy Honey Shrimp – So good. I also recommend trying the Lettuce Wraps as an appetizer.
The people are great. From the time you enter the door until the check is brought to your table, people are kind and processional. You tend to develop favorites when it comes to servers, because each puts their own spin on the sauce they mix at your table for dipping various foods.
Highly recommended.

There is something about the smell of Barns & Nobel. I am instantly taken up a notch when I walk into one. Honestly, I don’t care if the smell is a natural side effect of so many books in one place, or if they pump it in artificially. I just hope they never change it.
I usually hang out at the Barns & Nobel at the Summit. It’s a great place. I can browse for hours, find something I like, and sit in one of many easy chairs scattered through the walls of books. When I get a little tired, no need to worry, there is a Starbucks located in the store to perk me right up. And on top of that, they serve Cheesecake Factory cheesecake – does it get any better? Yes, yes it does. They have a great outside patio area. The only thing better than sitting and reading in an easy chair is sitting and reading outside on a cool sunny day.
Once you get addicted to this place, I recommend investing in one of the $25 membership cards. You can use for anything in the store including the Starbucks items and save on every purchase. Plus they constantly sent you coupons by email which I end up using quite often.

I recently switched to Gold’s Gym on 280 because of a job change and I have mixed feelings about it. This is my thoughts after about four months with the gym:
The Good: The people are very nice. You always see a smile coming in and going out. The weight equipment is superb, anything you could possible want. The cardio equipment is excellent as well, there is always something open for use. Plus, they have a movie cardio room where you can what a movie in a theater while running, cycling, etc. Also, all the classes are included with your membership and require no sign up, just show up.
The Bad: Contracts. They want you to sign a long contract, something in the neighborhood for two years. As a contractor that switches jobs often, that’s just not an option for me. So instead I opted for a month to month obligation that really cost me. Which brings me to my next bad point, Cost. I am paying $75 a month, which is a “VIP” membership, although I don’t know what that means really. But even the rates with a long contract were over $50 a month. Another downside was no pool, you would think for those high rates you would have a pool, but you would be wrong.
Overall, a nice facility, but they sure are overly proud of it. I’ll likely be looking elsewhere soon.

Panera Bread is yet another weekly visit for me. Anyone who is looking for something a little different from a bakery will find it at Panera. Everything on the menu is superb and all natural. They seem to pride themselves on adding a touch a class to everything they make, from their many types of bread to their soups.
My personal favorite from the menu is Soup in a Bread Bowl. Although all the soups are good, I find myself more often than not leaning towards the Broccoli and Cheese. Oh, and while you are there, try some of the Jones soda. It’s made with pure sugarcane and tastes delicious. I usually opt for the Root beer.
Another plus is the free Wi-Fi, yet another place you can spend hours cruising the web and enjoying great food.

Cambridge Coffee is a weekly hang out for me. The environment is such that you can just chill out for hours on end. I often go, order my coffee and read a book for hours. They have tables and even a leather couch and chair to relax in (You will find me on the leather couch).
They have plenty of coffee, lattes and cold drinks to choose from, and some wonderful food items as well. My favorite latte is the Turtle Mocha. The quality of the beverages are on par with Starbucks, but the environment is much more inviting.
They also offer free Wi-Fi, so feel free to bring your laptop along and cruise the web. Often times, they even have a live music to enjoy.

Superior Grill is one of my favorite places to dine in Birmingham; I go there around twice a month. It’s easily one of the best Mexican places in Birmingham. Although everything on the menu is good, I recommended trying the Crazy Javier. It will be the best ten dollar steak you have ever had, and maybe one of the best steaks you have ever had.
The service is wonderful and the people friendly. It would be rarity to see your water, chips or salsa even half empty.
At night, especially weekends, Superior Grill always has a live band on the patio. The patio has an outside bar and plenty of room to dance. An all around great establishment.
