Marios has some of the best Italian food on the island -- but the view of the beach is even better. A bit pricey unless you get the lunch buffet. The pasta dishes are better than the pizza here. The outdoor courtyard is charming, but frequently unusable due to the Texas heat. The decor inside is unusal, but tasteful.

Double Dave's is a great place for a date or a family meal. The pizza is delicious and the prices are reasonable, especially if you get the all you can eat buffet. My favorite is the pepperoni pizza rolls dipped in ranch dressing. The inside is decorated with vintage signs -- a trip down memory lane for those of us old enough to remember the signs!

But its very expensive, and the meals are nothing special. The restaurant is always very crowded (other people must like the food!) and you have to wait in long lines to order your food

La Madeline has a unique atmosphere. There is a fireplace in the middle of the restaurant, and there is no better place to be on a cold day. The food is usually very good, but over priced. I recommend the tomato soup, the fresh strawberries and everything from the bakery - especially the sacher torte. Homemade bread and jam are free!

The Sunflower Bakery is one of my favorite places to eat lunch on the island.. I love their egg salad with bacon sandwich. They also make wonderful tomato soup. A more unusual entree is the avocado halves with chicken salad lumped on top.The service is friendly and the atmosphere cozy. The worst thing I can say about this restaurant is that it is so crowded at lunch that you sometimes cannot get a seat.
