The neighborhood grocery store is alive and well in central Joliet! Mitchell's Food Mart (on Raynor north of Ingalls) is the quintessential corner grocery store of days gone by! Need to grab a few groceries, some bread, fresh milk? You can get those here. But the real draw here is the fresh meat - in a meat case where you can look at it before buying and pick out the meat you want! I bought rib eye steaks here several weeks ago and my company raved about them. Mitchell's has a reputation in Joliet for having the best meat in town, and they didn't disappoint me. The butcher was also very helpful in recommending a cut of meat for my special occasion, and was right on in terms of the meat that would cook best on the grill and still be tender.
