Buffalo Exchage is a great place to be on the cutting edge or create your own funky style, at teriffic prices. They only take high quality, flawless, stuff so it's not like an ordinary thrift store. They do buy stuff, but they are super picky (I think they only buy 10% of the stuff they see) and you can either get cash or store credit. You don't have to make an appointment either.
