Or pick up a Chocolate Thing - there's nothing like it anywhere - and a cup of really well-brewed coffee, and sit on the outside bench or walk into GG Park for a nice breakfast.
The breads and rolls and all are super good, too. You really can't go wrong. And this is a worker-owned cooperative. That's nice, too, right?

Dr Marin is a really nice guy. He doesn't run a factory-like office that is overcrowded, etc etc. He's very thorough, answers questions and all that good stuff. He's very traditional, but not at all an old fogey. His receptionist is really nice, too.
And for those of you who work in the Financial District, his office is RIGHT THERE.
And he's never run late on appointments!

Pharmaca is a beautiful store with lots of nutritional supplements & personal care products along with regular drugstore stuff as well as great magazines, gifts and chocolate.
If you need info, their staff is super helpful and knowledgeable. Everyone's really nice and it smells good in there.
Their website has loads of info on nutritional supplements and herbal and traditional medicines - check it out!
Also, I had a prescription that my insurance didn't cover and it was cheaper at Pharmaca than Walgreens, so definitely try them out. Plus the pharmacists were super nice.
The N Judah stops right there, too.

Everything I've eaten at Delica is so good...the food is complex, but clean - you can taste every individual flavor, and it still all goes together well.
I'd recommend:
1) three salad plate - or at least the Wasabi Potato Salad - sounds simple, huh? Boy, wait til you taste it. (Not too spicy)
2) Bento box with shrimp cake or chicken. OK I think chicken is boring about 98% of the time, but I got it on a friend's recommendation and they put something in that chicken that tastes so, so good. The shrimp cake has lots of shrimp in it...it's not your typical mystery shrimp? cake.
3) Seafood/veggie curry. Japanese curry is the best, and this curry is so so good. Usually, I get beef, but Delica does such a good job with the other curry that now, it's all I want.
The packaging is beautiful (I reuse mine at home) and they use those biodegradable corn utensils, which is nice. There's a nice selection of cold drinks, too.
Although a little expensive for a work lunch, it's worth it! You can sit outside!

Sellers Markets is a great place to go for lunch.
The food is so YUMMY. I'm so sad that I don't work in the Financial District anymore, because now I can't go to Sellers Markets every week.
And it's all that organic, sustainably harvested, locally grown stuff that we all love (think the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market).
I especially recommend the veggie pizza and chocolate cupcakes. The barbecued chicken sandwich is the perfect taste combination. The roast chicken is great to share with someone from your office - nice!
They have frequent buyer card, which you should definitely pick up, because unless you are crazy, you will want to go back again and again.
Service is fast - although around 12:30 it is crowded. You can preorder for take-out on their website.

I LOVE THE BALBOA!
Sometimes they play double features of second run, usually independent, movies.
And sometimes they have little mini-film festivals, like the Louis Malle one last week (I saw "Zazie dans le Metro")
Always, they have:
1) Cheap tickets = $8.50 for adults (and a bargain card: 5 movies for $30)
2) A great newsletter - you can see it on their website or get it emailed. They give great descriptions of movies as well as info from reviewers. They're very enthusiastic.
3) Nice snacks - fresh popped popcorn, good coffee and decent prices (whoa!)
4) Decent street parking - I generally get a spot pretty quickly.

I did about four months of the mysore ashtanga program at Yoga is Youthfulness ("YiY") and it was great - the best practice ever. (I stopped because I changed jobs.) The teachers are talented and most importantly, they are friendly. They do everything with good humor. If you want to learn more about ashtanga or mysore, check out their website.
YiY has other yoga classes, too as well as occasional parties and monthly hikes. They're a really friendly group and the students come from diverse backgrounds.
If you are in the area, please check it out.

Yummy Yummy is great for both lunch and dinner. The four dishes I had there were all really good. I especially recommend:
1) Squid salad - OMG! I am still thinking about this salad two weeks later. Lots of crunchy cabbage with mint, cilantro, basil, peanuts, fish sauce and all that - and perfectly cooked, right-sized pieces of squid hidden throughout.
2) Pho - beef soup with vegetables and tofu (I think it is #6) - this soup doesn't have beef in it, so ask for added beef. You will get the perfect combination of meat and veggies in this dish. A good assortment of crispy vegetables - a rarity in pho!
And the people who work there are really nice - friendly, but not too friendly. They remembered me from my first visit.

I always buy my Nick & Nora PJs at Ocean Front Walkers. I've bought about 5 pairs as well as 2 pair of boxer shorts for gifts.
Not only does Ocean Front Walkers have a great selection of Nick & Nora's - the best quality and most creative brand out there, in my opinion - but they have many other PJs and silly boxer shorts as well.
As an added bonus:
1) the woman who owns the store will tell you when new prints are arriving, so you can get the best selection.
2) during the Christmas season, she wears PJs in the store.
This is a great business to support - don't buy your PJs at Nordstrom (booorrring) - go to Noe & visit Ocean Front Walkers.

This is an outdoor group fitness program. The trainers are very knowledgeable, motivating and nice (not mean, like the name, "bootcamp", implies).
I lost 20 lbs and got in the best shape in my life in about 3 6-week sessions. The trainers will help you with your diet as well as any special needs (can't run, hurt leg, referral for sports massage).
Plus it is loads of fun!
You will meet some nice people, too.
