The Wine Cask is located next to Stop & Shop in Old Saybrook. They offer a thoughtful selection of wines, along with a full liquor and beer selection. While it is not as large as some other area package stores, I find that the staff really does know about wine, and is happy to help customers with making selections in any price range. They carry wines from all regions and all varietals, from inexpensive to expensive. On Friday evenings they offer wine tastings, usually a red and a white.
The prices are reasonable, and they do offer discounts for a full case.
