Matsu sells fine Japanese bedding and futon covers, as well as zen gardens, buckwheat hull pillows and fine Japanese gifts.
You can even find a sushi set, or nice tea kettle at reasonable prices. On the walls, one can find exquisite prized silk kimonos.

If you don't have a green thumb, like me, they will help you select the perfect plant for your needs (me = cactus!). They also have a selection of organic potting soil and organic plant foods.
My favorite thing about Flowerland is driving past it on the way home from work each day. The owner changes the sign weekly with a nice quotation to muse on, things like "Have you hugged someone today?" or sometimes there will be a passage from a poem.

Ideas 4 Elements is a clothing store for women (and men!) that sells very stylish clothes for distinguished souls.
Raw silks and tapestries make up a lot of the women's clothing lines here. They are all designer fashions that are very elegant and somewhat formal. I'd go here to dress for a special occasion.
They also have a nice selection of silk and velvet scarves, handmade leather purses, and they just opened a shoe boutique next door.
Ideas 4 Elements is a great store for women who want something special to wear.

Games of Berkeley has TONS of games for kids and adults. They literally have the largest selection I've ever seen, from regular board games (chess, checkers) to Dungeons and Dragon type role playing games.
They also stock magic tricks, jump ropes, jacks, all the things you remember from your childhood.
They have all the latest editions of role playing card games as well. I've even seen the Simpsons edition of Monopoly there.
Let your imagination run wild! Go to Games of Berkeley today!

Panache Hair and Beauty, on Telegraph Avenue (at Bancroft) in Berkeley, has some of the hippest hairdressers in town.
I have very short hair, so I need someone who will be able to make it feminine, yet with the pixie style I've grown to love. A lot of people make this haircut a bit too manly. At Panache, I've never had that problem. I always leave there feeling hip and cool.
They also have a nice array of styling products with names like Nexxus, Paul Mitchell, M.O.P. and L'Anza. They've also got nice hairbrushes and combs, none of which I need!
There is a section of 75% off items also, in the back of the store. I believe that they also do waxing.

The Actor's Theatre of San Francisco is centrally located in San Francisco's Theatre District, just off of Union Square.
They produce Off-Broadway style shows here, a number of which have garnered the coveted Dean Goodman Award, the Bay Area version of the Tonys.
Their current season includes "The Elephant Man" (now running), "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and others.
The stage is small, so you almost feel like part of the action, especially if it's a loud and particularly violent play - something they seem to do a lot of here.

The cost of college keeps rising and rising, and soon many of us will not be able to afford a college education.
Or maybe you are looking for a career change, something more challenging than what you're doing now.
Community college is the answer. You can get a myriad of degrees from most community colleges, or at least begin the track for a University degree.
Peralta Community Colleges are centrally located in Berkeley and Oakland, and are nearby public transportation.
The classes are reasonably priced at $18 per credit unit, making most classes in the $75 range.
I've been taking art classes at Vista Community College, which is part of the Peralta Colleges, in Berkeley for the past three years. I strictly go to night school because I have to work full time and go to school. I am 3 classes away from an Associate's Degree in Fine Art from Vista, and I am very proud of that.

Tilden Regional Park is a HUGE playground for children and adults in our own backyard. There are plenty of trails, swimming holes, there's even a place called "Little Farm" where you can see how a farm works!
There's a carousel, complete with cotton candy and ice cream vendors, and plenty of places to play frisbee or just relax in the sun.
Your family can also reserve a picnic area for parties. There is a swimming area as well, with clear fresh water.
At dusk, you will most likely see at least one deer or fox as you make your way out of the park. There are certain times of the year that you should take precautions against deer ticks as well.
