Barneys is a great local place to shoot some pool or throw some darts. It is very rarely busy except for Friday and Saturday nights but you usually can get a table. They also have a great jukebox and nice bartenders and waitresses. They offer a full line of beer, mixed drinks, and shots. The only down side to the place is that they do not have any beers on tap which isn't the best for a pool hall. Other than that it is a great place.

Houston Garden Center has to be the biggest place to find plants for your outdoor landscaping. They have every type of plant you could ever ask for. In addition, they have HUGE sales every summer as the growing season winds down. The sales start at 50% and eventually get to 75% at the end of summer. The savings can really add up if you wait and buy a bunch of plants late in the season. Every plant I have bought there has lived which I can't say for any other place.

I have hired and know a lot of graduates of the school and love them all. Their academic departments are of a very high quality and I would be willing to send my own children their some day. Since moving to Houston I have heard Rice referred to as the Princeton of the South. That is a pretty amazing reputation to have earned. My company hirers numerous Rice graduates every year and we are never disappointed with our choice. They have a great engineering school, great sports, art and cultural activities. All in all it is a very well rounded place to send your kids to. Best of all it is located near the Houston downtown and Galleria areas. A great place to go to school.

Celebration Station is located just North of the Greenspoint area. It is a kind of old place but there are still lots of fun things to do. They have a 18 hole putt putt course, a really fun go cart track, a huge arcade with lots of new games, and good food and drinks and batting cages. The prices are reasonable and it is never really that busy except on very long weekend during the spring and fall. It is a fun place to take you kids for a few hours to have some fun as a family.
