We adopted what appeared to be a healthy puppy on May 21. After about 1-1/2 weeks we were notified that one of her litter mates came down with parvo. Our puppy was scheduled to be spayed on June 4 and since she showed no signs of parvo, they went ahead and did her surgery. Two days later on Sunday morning, the puppy became lethargic and wouldn’t eat. I called Scottsville and was told to bring her in the next day. Later in the day, we decided she was going to make it another day so we brought her into the animal emergency hospital where she was diagnosed with parvo. They admitted her and kept her in quarantine for 4 days. Thankfully, she seems to be doing very well now, but this little puppy has now cost us $2,600. Since our puppy came down with parvo, I found out that at least one other puppy in her litter has parvo as well.
Due to the incubation time of parvo, it seems highly likely that these puppies were infected at Scottsville Animal Hospital, either during their stay before getting adopted or while undergoing surgery. Either way, I will never be going back there.
