My family and I recently returned from a few days at Split Rock and we had a really nice time. We chose Split Rock because it was only a couple of hours from home and they have a lot of things to do there. Reading a lot of mixed reviews here we decided to try it.
We got there pretty early and our room wasn't ready. Having 2 kids with us we didn't know what to do They told us we can use any of the facilities while we waited. We took advantage of that and spent the afternoon in the indoor waterpark. The park is small, but nice. The kids especially liked the slides. (I must admit, I did too). There is also a wavepool and surfing ride there too. That was enough to keep us occupied for the afternoon. (Remember to pack towels as they do not provide them). We brought towels anyway for the beach, so that really wasn't a big deal for us.afterwards we checked in and went to our room. It was in the galleria with 2 queen beds. It was clean and spacious. We went to dinner at the Italian restaurant. The food was good and so was the service. They even sat us at a table by the window with a view of the lake. we took part in some of the activities at night. They do a lot of neat things for families. Both of our kids loved the magician. The next day we went to breakfast and went to beach. Since it was a beautiful day it was pretty crowded but we found a nice spot.. They even had turtle races there! Yes live turtle races! That was pretty fun to see. We played a round of miniature golf and then ate dinner at the Galleria. The food was pretty good there too. We opted to include the meals with our room. oh, There are small charges for some of the activities so be prepared. All of us had a fun time. The staff was nice and the place was clean, dated, but clean. We are planning to go back next year. This place is great for some good old fashioned family fun.
