I'm not a family member or employee, check my reviews I have a bunch! This restaurant was very good. Parking in the rear was convenient and free. The wait staff was very friendly and our food arrived fast and hot! Their penne pesto with chicken was delicious!!! They're not skimpy on the chicken, the garlic bread was also fresh and loaded with garlic. I recommend the Tiramisu. I would return, I'll post pics more

Been a few times-It is funny when you read other peoples reviews LOL - One impressive thing is they do not oversalt their food and you can actually taste the food because it is not disguised with seasoning- Do not get their garlic rolls unless you are a garlic/butter lover - which thank God I am. The tiramisu is so yummy and they have a decent selection of wines. Like the freshness and flavors of the food. Service is actually more European and would be considered slow by most fast food Americans- not perfect but works for most. Will go again and again and recommend as well. more

Loved eggplant parmesan spaghetti and pizza! They did mess up to go order as we requested extra tomato sauce and they gave us none so we had to add our own at home. Overall delicious! One bad note... Garlic rolls are horrible!! Drenched in garlic and butter horrible for you and really ruins the taste more

A meeting called on short notice in this little hamlet had me at my wits end. Between retrieving visiting Chinese nationals from the airport from 7:30 to 11:30, none of whom wanted anything more than a bed and a rest due to their long travels from the Orient, I found myself suddenly famished late into a Wednesday evening and in need of more than a quick fish and chips.\r \r Upon calling at 9:15 and asking how late this location was open, I was told 11:00pm. But only my superior intellect and acute investigative skills drew me to further inquire "Ah! But how late will you be serving food my good lady?", my having assumed that the young voice on the phone did indeed belong to a lady...."Uh, 11:00 PM......" she said, as if all establishments routinely served that late on a Wednesday evening! \r \r Entering at 10pm I noticed 3-4 booths to my left were already occupied but that there were several available, as well as a dozen or so tables to my right. My predilection is to not draw untoward attention to myself by eating alone at a table or a booth (a habit formed during my escapades in the Burmese War where I was set upon by tribal elders seeking my pipe tobacco in a trade...for a shrunken head no less, and who's features looked oddly familiar to me.)\r \r So I galavanted over to the small bar area in the back, which you need to seek out if you are truly in need of the spirits as it is not readily apparent to the untrained eye. A lone figure at a bar draws much less attention to himself there than sitting alone at a table in a restaurant full of patrons. \r \r Prompt and quick service was provided by Miss Debbie, a pleasant looking woman with an air of conviviality to her. Ordering a Johnnie Walker Black on ice and a menu I was treated to a healthy pour and a decently extensive food menu. And where Osteria Marco in Boca satisfied my seafood and Caprese salad desire the previous week I elected to test this denizens attempt at two of the basic stalwarts of Italian Heritage cooking: Minestrone Soup and Eggplant Parmigiana, a gastronomic invention from the Parma region in Italy where breading, sautéing, and baking in a red sauce with cheese has since allowed many an inedible ingredient to be masked by other accoutrements.\r \r "Garlic or none?" Miss Debbie inquired of me. Again, in my attempt to not bring further attention to myself I quickly answered 'garlic' not knowing what I had just indicated but choosing to allow the infusion of garlic vs. not as everything has a better succulence and pungency with a little well placed garlic and this would also be a further test where ever they decided to include it.\r \r The Minestrone Soup arrived at 10:15 and was served piping hot but not microwaved as the pasta was still al dente, included beans, carrots, etc. and with a broth that could easily be passed over as ubiquitous but should not be for the broth was an absolutely perfect blend of fragrances, tastes, and liquid but had not yet become the milky 'soup' of so many poseur enclaves. Delicioso!\r \r "I'm sorry if you did not enjoy your soup" Miss Debbie added, clearing away my now nearly sparkling bowl to which she had previously heaped a healthy dose of freshly grated cheese herself. Her timing and distance, not too close and conversational yet near enough to handle water fills and maintenance indicated an experienced and very sentient server.\r \r No sooner had the soup vaporized than a plate arrived with my entree, accompanied by a side of linguine with red sauce as requested. Again laden with another dose of fresh parmigianno cheese ( so crass to pour cheese from a dispenser or even spooned from a bowl...... None of that here!) I wondered how Il Mulino of Ft. Lauderdale would handle both this stalwart of Italian cooking and thus the mantle of the famed New York establishment of the same name.\r \r With serving size apportioned I tasted a wonderfully rich and surprisingly delicate morsel of flavor and was immediately gratified. The eggplant slices were the perfect thickness, the proper softness, the skin the softest so as to cut easily with a fork..... All the traits necessary to allow a dish like this to have at least a chance at being wonderful, and this version did not disappoint! Bite after mouth watering bite did ingest, marveling at the richness, when I chanced upon the linguine, also usually an afterthought in many an Italian kitchen. \r \r Not here! The sauce (or gravy depending on your original Italian roots) was no jarred, canned, or even basic melding but a delicate blend and amalgamation of all that is good in Italian cooking in general. It did NOT overpower the meal or the pasta beneath but held it's own and actually allowed one to taste both the pasta noodle and the minute ingredients within the sauce itself. THIS was a place that knows how to handle Italian cooking.\r \r And so engrossed with this experience was I that I completely kissed the placing of two Italian rolls to my left, on amplate with olive oil and infused with 'GARLIC'! AHA! Mystery solved!\r \r With a thorough cleaning of my dish, and another perfectly timed arrival by my delightfully off to the side bartender, I was quickly satiated, relaxed, and out the door by 10:45 in plenty of time to await his excellency Master Pi from the Formosan Island.\r \r THIS, my good friends, is a experience that has well earned another visit by this resident of 221b Baker St. And next time I will bring Watson and Inspector Lastrade for a delectable meal such as this must be shared with others.\r \r Now go quickly for the game's afoot! more

Not for the educated Italian palate ! Food is OK; not inspired or memorable. Wine list is "challenged." \r One plus: convenience - next to movie theatre. more

The only thing I didn't like was the parking. If I hadn't asked the security next to the restaurant, I had no idea I could park on the other side of the street, in the business complex's parking lot. (the restaurant's parking lot in the back was full)\r \r It was busy for a Thursday night (yesterday at 7p) but we were given a seat right away, the drinks and the food was delivered on time by a friendly server. The price was good. My company and I had a good time at this family oriented restaurant. I will bring the mother-in-law next time :) more

Stopped in after a movie. The wild mushroom pizza sucked. Crust was like it was pre made. Soggy. Caprese salad was on a bed of spinach. Guess they thought it was basil. more

It's 8 pm on a Friday and not a lot of parking. Walk into the restuarant and wait 10 minutes to get a table. Then another 10 to order. Then 7 minutes until antipasta arrives and 3 minutes AFTER antipasta. Then 20 minutes later our entree arrives. Spaghetti and meatballs and chicken something. The pasta was overcooked, the meatballs were bready, the chicken was pretty good. The. We order an almond basket (crispy almond pastry basket with gelato and berries) it comes quick. But the waitress says "sorry I broke the basket" I say it's fine (because as long as it tastes good I don't care) I go to break a piece off of the basket and it crumbles and it's soggy! It must of been a couple hours old! broken and soggy! The berries and gelato we ok I was just upset in this terrible dinning experience to top it off it's an Italian restuarant with Mexican music and Swiss cheese ravoli. My opinion is run, just run away. Go to Nicks on the beach I like it better. more

we were going to another restaurant on a beach resort on a friday night because we had a restaurant.com coupon, and apparently if they arent pulling enough business they just shut the doors even before closing time. unthinkable. so on our way there, i saw an italian restaurant that caught my eye that wasnt sandwiched in a strip mall, or didnt have a name like 'big fat paulies' or 'big mikes'. i hate that.\r \r we stopped in a it was everything we wanted. the top of the menu states clearly that they dont have any microwaves and that everything they serve is freshly made on premises, even the pasta. excellent food, neat and clean appearance, and modestly priced.\r \r i was going to go with something else that caught my eye, but once i saw that EVERYTHING from this place is freshly made i decided to go back to the basics and get the spaghetti and meatballs, excellent. my girlfriend had the sausage and broccoli penne which was also simple and refreshingly good.\r \r all told: 2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine, plus a generous tip was around $50. well worth it to me. more

I can only say I have been going to Il Mulino for 21 years. I try to go at least twice a month but since I mover to Parkland in 2004 it is a drive but worth it ! I have never had a bad meal, salad, or garlic roll there ! The food is always fresh, hot and very flavorful ! The prices are right and the service is always awesome ! Great place ! Great Food ! Nice Staff ! more

Boring boring boring food. I never salt my food, but this needed it. The only consolation was that everyone that works there was super nice. I so wanted to like it. more

Nothing extravagant, but my husband and I go back quite often for their comforting atmosphere & food. I wouldn't say it's an ordinary place. It's one of our favorite casual dinner joints. more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 11/20/2010

While the menu has a vast assortment of choices, this restaurant has some good items, and what I call typical Italian where quantity rules versus quality. Unfortunately, most diners in South Florida think that you have to roll out of a restaurant or walk out with a "doggie bag" for it to be good.\r \r I ordered the Chicken Picatta, and it was a tasty generous portion that could probably feed three people.\r \r Service is mediocre, and my experience every time I go to this restaurant is the impression of the ceramic plates slamming onto the granite tabletops as your food is delivered. You hear that all over the restaurant, and a place mat would be a nice touch to warm the table's coldness and food delivery.\r \r If you arrive on a busy night, do not expect to wait at a bar area or have an area to sit. You often may be standing in the crowded doorway, or in a line on the sidewalk in the Florida heat or rain. more
