Country Pet Retreat

My dog came home smelling horrible.... like urine and feces. The whole location always smells horrible. I had taken special food for him to eat while he was there. I was given the remainder of what he didn't eat.... which didn't match how much I know he DOES eat....so where did all his food go? Plus he came home vomiting food that distinctly was NOT his own food. He seems to have a urinary tract infection as he is peeing constantly. He also has been throwing up for two days. Sue is reasonable but is it worth it? She can be super friendly and then other times very abrasive and defensive if you question policy or care of animals. I wonder how often the human society checks in there? Please look at similar complaints found through google. she WILL NOT let you view the care area. more

Not even taking into consideration the smell of the place and the service I received I would never take my dogs to this place again. My two dogs were boarded here for 3 nights. I informed Sue that they eat Eukanuba dog food and she said to bring it with me and she would feed it to them. After I picked up the dogs and returned home I noticed the container of food I took was still full. I had measured all of the food out for the entire time and should have been 24 cups...only 6 cups were missing from the container. She had fed my dogs whatever food she had there. My dogs are both sick and have horrible diarrhea! I would never take my dogs there again or recommend it to anyone else! more

Just got off the phone with Sue. Got the lecture about not being able to even see the area where the dog would stay. This time she blamed it on insurance regulations, (instead of "state law" as in another review). Asked her if she would send her pet somewhere without being shown the facilities, she said "depends on the place". When I said "what if it was a place you didn't know", she was very quiet. Never met her, but impression form the phone was very negative. She basically told me if I didn't like it, go somewhere else. It would be very convenient for us, but based on some of the reviews, and her unwillingness to show the facilities, we are choosing elsewhere. more

When we took our lab to this location we asked to see the area where our dog would be staying. We were told that according to state law we were not allowed. We should have walked away at that moment; however, we allowed our dog to stay anyway, big mistake. She has not been the same. She now howls when we take her to the vet or kennel. We also complained of the smell. We were told it had just been cleaned. Check it out first before leaving your pet. Don't make the mistake we did. more

I made the mistake of using this boarding facility without checking it out first. The stench of pet feces and urine was overpowering. I thought it was just because she might have just cleaned out the cages, but the smell was the same when I picked my dog up. All the dog toys had to be thrown away because I could not get the stink out. My dog had a urinary tract infection when I took her home, which went unnoticed at the kennel. And be prepared for a lecture on how she has a life outside the kennel if you come 20 minutes late to pick your dog up. more
