The drive to the winery was nice with a great view of a gulf course that had to be one tough walk for those without a cart. The wines were ok. This Macadamia Nut wine (mead)was the one that stood out among the group. It can't be replicated elsewhere and it is a delightful appertif, desert wine, or wine to enter a warm summer gathering, before the main course. Because it is so unusual, it is treasured. I will be asking for it here in Houston at Spec's. My thanks to those who venture in the art on this most beautiful island. Perfect the rest, but don't stop with this local treat.

I visited this Art Center several times when I came to Volcanoes National Park. The Art Center is a beautiful gallery that exhibits local artists' work and it is also a shop that sells artwork and other Hawaiian souvenirs. You can buy blockprints, paintings, drawings, photographs, and sculptures. The theme for all of the artwork is the Volcano Park and Hawaiian culture.

This place is so unique that it is a totally different experience staying inside the Volcano national park where the active volcano Kilauea is bubbling. The rooms are old... but clean and very quaint. It is so convenient if you are planning on trekking and seeing the volcano after dark. The food at the restaurant is good too. I loved the place as it has something mystical about it.

Akatsuka Orchid Gardens is located on the Big Island on Highway 11, right on the way to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, between the 22 and 23 mile marker. You can take a tour of their covered display garden which features a colorful array of orchids and plants. You can even purchase cut flowers or plants which are already certified and ready to take home. This is a wonderful place to visit.

The Kilauea General Store is located in Volcano Village. They offer services such as a gas station, a deli, groceries and an ATM. They also serve pizza after 4:30 pm. You can find unique gift items for family and friends on the neighbor islands such as unique ohelo berry syrups and jellies as well as gourmet butter. They also sell unique Volcano themed merchandise like postcards and other items.

This is a wonderful art gallery and store located in the beautiful Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. They have on display works by over 300 Hawaii artists. Some of their unique items on display and for sell include paintings, jewelry, wood items, glass, books, gifts, ceramics, prints, and photography. My favorite item is the blockprints by Dietrich Varez.

This place was excellent! The service was fast, the food was fresh and the prices were reasonable. But I will be forever grateful to them for finally teaching my husband a lesson about ordering his food Thai hot. It was so hot that even he finally admitted that it was almost too hot to handle! I like to taste my food so I ordered mine medium hot and it was just right!

Gordon and Joann Morse rent out three bedrooms with shared bathrooms in their home, including breakfast. They also rent out a couple of studio units adjacent to the house that have kitchens, TVs, phones and bathrooms. This couple is great with guests and love to talk about the Big Island during breakfast. I would recommend this comfy B&B to any visitor. They also have very reasonable prices. We stayed here a few years ago to attend the Merry Monarch Festival. We really enjoyed the home-made breakfast that Joann Morse prepared for us in the morning and our studio units were very clean and cozy.

Checked out this lodge while visiting the National Park. Had a great time. This is close to the park so if you are touring the area and want to spend some time exploring the park this is a great place to stay.
