Dissatisfied with this veterinary office 1/12/2011

I've previously worked for Banfield for about 8 months. The hospital management progressively shown hostile behavior toward me. I was afraid to go to upper management due to retaliation. Plus, this hospital is over priced. more

Horrible experience 8/10/2010

We trusted Banfield with our pets. Unfortunately this almost costed us our precious Chihuahua's life. We had both our dogs on a wellness plan at the east Vancouver location. The staff up front was friendly but we did not like the fact that every time you go in you pretty much always see a different doctor.\r The doctors insisted we spay our six month chihuahua even though we were worried because she was small under 3 pounds. They informed us if we waited past 6 months it would cost more & that they spay small dogs and cats her size all the time. After her spay the doctor very nervously informed us a piece she tried to tie off slipped inside our dog & she was unable to dig it out so she had to be cut more in order to get to it. We were assured this happens often & it wasn't a problem. 2 days later on dog was pooping blood. Things continued to go down hill from there all the while we payed for MANY more expensive test trying everything to find out what was wrong with her.\r When she got re more

Truly a Great Hospital 6/20/2010

I have nothing but high praise for Banfield in Vancouver as they have treated us with nothing but respect and they've been 100% forthright in communication with us. We found our rescue doggy living on the streets and he was in good shape, but we needed to get him neutered and he badly needed his teeth cleaned when we found him. Our FIRST visit for the neutering and teeth cleaning would have cost over $1000 for everything they did to help this poor guy. Using the wellness plan, we'll only end up paying $600 for the whole year - and we still have MANY visits left on it that will be free of charge. We are saving hundreds of dollars and they let us know UP FRONT (and it's in the paperwork) that it IS cancelable at any time, but they deduct the services you've used, and have you pay the balance. Totally fair! We had our dog neutered, and his teeth cleaned, I'd expect nothing less. Our dog had been seen by another vet who said his teeth were "Great" but his breath was CLEARLY bad and you co more

Wellness Plans are a SCAM 3/28/2010

I worked for Banfield briefly as a collections rep at the corporate office in Portland, Oregon. The post by Daniel is perfectly indicative of the Corporate atmosphere as well. The Wellness Plans are made for one reason only, TO MAKE THE COMPANY MONEY! All day long I talked to people who were told by the hospital that the plan could be canceled at any time. I Know for a fact that the corporate office is aware of this misinformation and deliberately does not advise there hospitals to correct this. The actual production cost of the services provided by the wellness plans is often less than $100, but the ?Retail Value? of the services can be in excess of $1000.00. I understand that a company obviously needs to make money, but the markup on these services is outrageous on top of the unethical lack of information given to the clients by the hospital staff (generally speaking) about their options for canceling the wellness plan. In addition to this the billing for the company is all ?pa more

Banfield The Pet Hospital is extremely helpful. 10/18/2009

I had the complete opposite experience. I've been taking my puppy here for the last four months. Every time we go in, they give me the pros and cons of what they're recommending. They don't push things on me if I tell them I'm not interested. They're incredibly nice and helpful. I was surprised that I liked them so much since they're a chain but I do like them a lot! And I'm a dog trainer so I have pretty discerning tastes when it comes to vets. more

Banfield has horrible customer care 12/30/2008

I to took my kitten to Banfield and had the same remarks about how people who don't take their animals to Banfield don't really care about them for the vet tech, it seems as if unless you have money you are worthless to them, I now take all my animals to Companion Pet Clinic and absolutely love them there. more

Scam Artists!! Stay away!! 12/30/2005

I took my kitten, Buster, into Banfield the day after I rescued him. I just wanted to get him his booster shots and flea treatment. A man did an exam on him, and said nothing about whether my cat looked healty, or what the shots were going to cost. He gave him a flea treatment and cleaned his earsthen left the room. When he returned, he brought me an invoice for almost $250.00!!! There was an extensive list of tests they wanted to do, and other misc. things. He pretty much told me that I didn't really care about the cat unless i had him get all these things done. I declined, and just paid for the flea treatment and ear cleaning (about $20 total). A few days later I visited Orchards Vet and they gave him all his shots, a check up, and de-wormed him all for $30. They also told me Banfield was trying to scam me, and the cat was fine without those tests. I would highly suggest Orchards Vet instead of Banfield, hands down. They are located on NE 117th street in Vancouver, by the Bi-Mart an more
